Let me lay this thing to rest..........! I say now, there is no comparison in all these pin pointers and the Garrett Propointer. They're better than nothing.........but by comparison, little more (my opinion) You layed out $600-800 for your detector, didn't you? Why use a dog pinpointer. Hey, I didn't listen either. It's the old story, why drive the Ford, if there's a Chevvy setting next to it ?

What is your point silversmith and what are you talking about. First of all this discussion is about a DIY Pinpointer, nothing else. It's not about what one is better than the garrett. It's about a simple DIY pinpointer. You might have spent 600 to 800 on your detector and that's fine, some of us didn't, but again that's not the point. The point is it's a DIY project, and another thing do you really think it's a "dog" pinpointer even if you have never used it or seen it, wow how rude is that. Next time read the whole story instead of just a couple of post's, that might get you a little further along in the conversation.

GOODNESS SAKE, '1972. Do you feel better now? I went through this "cheap pinpointer" thing about 6 months ago, myself. I bought, modified and in the end found I'd spent enough of my hard earned money to own a Great pinpointer and not be stuck with a pinpointer wanta-a-be. Good guys advised of my seemingly bad judgement, and I laid down my cash for less than I could have had. When the subject comes up I always comment about it. Now, if you don't like it, too bad. That's all I got to say about it, for now. Let's try to not let this really great web site turn into a war zone. So spin your "VFO" and I'll spin mine..........

I could say the same about my uniprobe compared to your garrett probe, its a similar comparison, but what we have here is a $3 bit of kit that is equally as good as the cheap ones for sale at $25, i have uniprobe and the sunray for the etrac but i still built one of these and enjoyed every minute of it, something to do on your days when you can't get out that is better than watching telly, some people dont have the 80-100 bucks to get a garret wana-be Uniprobe and are gratefull for this little gadget, others like me just like tinkering with things and are delighted when it works

And that's just plain cool, Kered. I'm an electronic tinkerer myself. As a long time ham operator, most of my main radio peripherals are tossed together in the shack, ae antennas, tuners amplifiers, keyers etc. I may have put my case together a little to strong for the Garrett, but that thing is awesome. I fooled around with the other brands cause Garrett wanted way too much for theirs. I wasn't about to pay $127.45 for one. But I did. The first time I let my kid use it, you should have seen the big grin that spread all over his face. So what ever you do, don't tell me you use something better! I don't think I could take it now :stretcher: Thanks for the comments.

Your not worth my effort anymore, silversmith. No I don't drive a ford, I drive a noneya, none ya damn business. LOL. look you came in here crapped on my little DIY project and said that the garrett is so much better. Well yea it is or everyone would have one of my little projects. It's just a project, so why did you make the comments that you did, and not expect to hear back from me telling you where to go? I'm done here with you, I have other projects I need to work on. So later.

Well LLoyd H. Unless you taste the forbidden wine, you'll be happy with your "Ripple" Like I said before I had my Harbor Freight perking right a long. The little vibrator I bought on E-bay worked out super good on the Harbor. If I'd never experienced the Pro, would've been happy with the Harbor.

Hey '1972, I once new a guy that really liked his Ford. I hope you'll be happy with yours!

OK fine one more thing what it is with your child like mentality about this ford thing, what kind of an insult is it supposed to be other than something that makes no sense and is really stupid. F**k you and your ford @#$%&, take your chevy and drive it straight up your @#$%&. OK have a nice day.

Y...........You have a nice day too. My Chevvy is in really, a Scion XB with the rear seat ripped out and stuffed with electronic "baldergarb" when I'm doing my trade, and loaded with metal detectors, gold pans, sluice boxes and a special place for my Garrett Propointer when I'm on holiday. Oh, did I tell you about my Garrett Pro pointer :poke:
