Picture of jumper wire fix for Pro Golds...

I just used a 2" piece of insulated copper wire and twisted bared ends around the solder lugs where the black and red wires are attached from the main cord using needle nose pliers . The jumper wire in picture is white but color not important. I used single strand copper wire as it is easier to twist around contacts with good contact/holding power over multi-strand type wire.
Untwist and remove if/when you no longer need.

This fix may effect dual volume control but I had no problem getting set to suit my hearing...

Note: This fix is done on side of phones that main cord enters and the padded part with black plastic base just snaps out of cup and easily snaps back in.

The twisted wire connections will eventually fail. You'd be a lot better off by soldering them.

Ray, your a champ! I just soldered the jumper wire in my Pro Golds and they work flawlessly now. I am actually really happy that the jumper seems to disable both toggles as they were nothing but a nuisance to me anyway. I constantly would accidentally switch one or the other and now they don't matter anymore. Thank you very much for posting this. This could not possibly be an easier thing to "fix." Now when I plug in my headphones, speaker goes off and when I unplug them, speaker comes back on, PERFECT. Thanks again for this post and for those of you wondering if you can do this yourself, trust me, you can. Use a little flathead to separate the earcup and the rest is a piece of pie. Thanks again Ray. -Marc

As I stated a couple of weeks ago, any modification to our headphones will void the warranty! We have just completed a fix for the CTX shutoff and still maintained the headphone operation for all other detector models just as they were before! I will be announcing the details on the CTX 3030 forum as soon as we finalize everything with our manufacturer. Please be patient. Thank you.
