Converted Whites 5900 DI-Pro SL into a sporty Blue & Gray

Always wanted a Blue & Gray but somehow the 5900 DI-Pro SL series are easier to find, here's a recent 5900 DI-Pro SL project with a sporty twist.

Using an XLT meter housing with a modified 5900 analog assembly, Replaced the 5900 ID plate with a Blue & Gray. The Blue & Gray decals arrived today, After slapping them on the unit looks pretty neat.

What's next is remounting the control box further back directly underneath the armrest, this should distribute the weight for a better balanced detector.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks Jerry,

You bet, will forward here in a few minutes.

With the 5900/Blue & Gray, been expermenting with DD coils, found one pretty close and it's working good for tougher soil. Plus, swings great balance is terrific.

Thanks again,
Paul

Thanks George,

This Whites unit operates smooth, Was in an old area yesterday hoping to pull up a phoenix button but instead the 5900 scored a flat button. Was using different detectors comparing them, overall the 5900 did a good job.

Dug a few buttons between the three detectors, couple of flat one smashed ball button. i know you've dug a few phoenix buttons before. Here on the west coast these are a rare find, fortunately we come across them at the older sites.

Im really liking the modified 5900/Blue & Gray.

Thanks George!

Is that a fisher 11" dd? Please some details of how you did it!

Hello Rick,

Yes, the elliptical DD is from a fisher F4/F2. The older version with push pin connector. Using an adapter, but what im noticing DD coils work better with the Tekentics series especially Mark I or Mark III. Whites series don't rare as well with DD coils, but under right conditions a DD can help. Mark I or Mark III hands down much deeper with a DD.

About a year ago, changed out the screw type connector on a F4 NEL DD Hunter coil with a bounty hunter push pin type. Gets the same depth as a 10" Mark 1 coil, smooth performance but not quite as sensitive on micro gold signals. Yet, it's deep on coin size targets.

Don't recommend others switching to DD with whites, but with the Mark I or Mark III it's ok.

HH, Paul
