Looking for another good CZ

Greetings all I,ve been out for a couple years with back issues, but now all healed up and excited to get back in the game again. I sold all my Fishers, but am very excited about getting going once again. I've looked at several different websites but there are so many fishers with so many options. I had a CZ5, looking at a 3D. I still like the analog type deep seekers. Any help would be appreciated. The town I'm from is finally getting ready in a few months to tear up the old downtown brick sidewalks, bringing in bobcats. Very anxious about working the area. Thanks Ken

With new like that several of us would loan you a detector and come down for a visit. Our sidewalk project in my city got me my highest silver coin count in a year ever. I made friends and hit it early. Lots of times they pour crushed stone or sand in on top of the fresh dig. You want to be able to hit it when it is dirt. I hunted after work until late at night because the window is pretty narrow. You also want to take a shot at the area alongside the sidewalk, A lot of coins were apparently along the edge of the sidewalks and remained on edge once the stone was removed. Another thing you might try to find out where the waste stone and dirt are headed. Some coins stick to the dirt left on the stone when they are pulled up. Being able to check them over after they are dumped might be a good thing. You can't go wrong with a CZ. They are still popular and go pretty fast on the classified ads. I have only used the CZ3ds and the CZ70 but I know the CZ5s are really good too. Good luck, be sure to post all of that old silver when the bricks come up.

Hey thanks alot, that's some really good information, the town is a really old mining town in southeast Kansas just right across the state line 5 miles where the EF-5 Tornado went through Joplin, Mo last May 22. I was on the city council for 5 years and we were working on the grant to get main street done, but it finally got approved and work is beginning now especially tearing down some old bldgs dating back to the 1870's and working on milling the main part of the downtown road for 5 blocks, which is the original route of old Route 66. i was told that the sidewalks will begin in about 3-6 weeks with new curbs and guttering. My plan is to head up there in April.

I love my CZ5 and F75 (over twice the price) both have been worked over by NASA Tom and hit hard and sharp. Just knowing the units been reviewed by an expert is a great confidence builder. Used machines are often sold because they don't work well (really). I had a bum coil on my CZ and Tom caught it. I'd recommend against buying flea bay or from someone you don't know. I'd say buy new from one of the forum sponsors or someone you know VERY WELL through the forum classified.
Get as comfortable as you can before work starts since this is a once in a life time opportunity.

Good luck. You will need it. You just posted it here for all the world to see. And the grasshoppers that will desend will have no mercy for the locals and no care about the aftermath.

I did some checking all the excavating is under contract and no one allowed near the digging sites. Well at least downtown is getting a new look. Sure would like to have done some detecting down main street. All the debris will being hauled off and taken out of the area to a private debris field.

Hey, that sounds like the standard easy answer. Unless they are closing the town down there are going to be people in and out of the digging site. Maybe check with the town office, mayor, city building etc. to see if they all say the same thing. Make sure they realize that you are talking about after hours, when the work is done for the day. If you run into another dead end I would still show up down there and either ask supervisor on site or check things out after the work is complete for the day. If you have a local historical society, maybe enlist there help. Offer to do a display or a program on things recovered that reflect the town's history. Don't give up quite so easily. It may be a dead end but there may also be ways around it. Think positive.

Follow the trucks....professionals take out dirt and fill it with an ash for drainage...Last time I did they ended up with two seated dimes and a large cent...

If indeed dumping on private ground asking permission is an option but many times they just find an isolated area and ump and well the rest is up to you and even know of some fellows that have raked down piles to get at the goodies...

Thanks I will do just thatN/T
