Those rod mount units only were not popular as most wanted the ability to bodymount however just as good as any of their other models....

Dose anyone know if the two bolts on the rod that go to the box is fixed to any parts that will come off if taken out? I have a very nice CZ7a but don't use it much as it gets heavy.

If you have the CZ7A rodmount only you will have wires leading to the battery tray and also a short cord so don't know how you would bodymount even if you removed the screws that attach it to rod....

OK Thanks DAN, I will just use it like it is, don't want to do anything that will hurt it. Do you think the CZ7a is as good as the other CZ's ? It seams to do very well.

Guess it depends on the tuning ...had several of that model and all were deepseekers...and do remember were made by the old Fisher.....

I just acquired one not to long ago and I have had one other Fisher machine an F70.

I use the CZ7a the same way hunt in all metal and switch to id after I find a solid target.

I my opinion the CZ7a is an excellent machine and I have found two silver coins with it in an area I hunted with the F70 and a Tesoro Vaquero.

A bit heavy but I have just slowed my swing down a bit and shorten the shaft and I can hunt hours with it no problem.

If weight does become a concern I can always run a strap to it.
