Probably the new design eliminated the maze of potentiometers in the original CZ design. Fewer knobs to twiddle!

I believe he can't replace the rubbers that hold it together. and using the old rubbers may defeat the splashproof abilities of these units...Lytle reason sounds plausible also and have seen digital units with his tag on them so he has done some...

works on CZ's and gets them from Fisher.
Makes sense that Tom can, too.
