fisher customer service for cz6 ruined my detector depth :(

I didn't want to send it for repairs id needle and discriminator switch, the rumors were right after all, they literally ruined my detector depth I was air testing coins over 12 inches + with the stock coil I sent them, the fix time was great 2 weeks or less but they told me that my unit "needed" a calibration, I know that some people here told me to talk to felix which I did and ask hem to personally take a look at my unit, I'm really disappointed in what they sent me back :(

I got in return a 7 inch depth in almost every coin also over loads at 4 inches :(

im very very sad :(

thanks for the compadre fisher :(

Im doing a video of air testing

Wow that sucks. My Video is below to compare. I will never let them touch mine. Also Felix is not a Tech. From what I gather He's a service rep.

I took a look at your video and all I have to say is wow! They really busted that machine! That's not right, try calling them and describing what happened. Surely they will make this right. I have a CZ21 with 8 inch coil that was calibrated at the factory in mid 2016 and I can air test 10 inches on a quarter in disc, it has really impressed me. That left me feeling like I could have peace of mind sending the detector to the factory if it ever needed a repair, but your video is scary.

Something evidently went wrong. I watched the video. The problem may be the machine, but first let's rule out environmental issues.

If the searchcoil is near a metal pipe or reinforcing bar or mesh, it'll throw the searchcoil signal out and can produce results similar to what you see. This is easy to check-- just get the searchcoil away from metal. I'm supposing that you've already done that, but I gotta mention it just in case.

Another possibility is a new source of electrical interference, that happens a lot these days. It would be unusual for that to affect overload, but it can cut sensitivity. A different location or different time of day should give different results if this is the case. Again, I suppose you've already done your due diligence on this, but gotta mention it just in case. Sometimes even we in engineering dept. get excited about something and overlook the obvious.

So-- assuming that the problem is the machine: if coins are overloading at 4 inches, that's either a defective searchcoil, or something went wrong in the circuit. Either way, a correct calibration won't be possible. Since it's not likely the factory would knowingly ship a machine that way, I am guessing that a de novo problem developed after it was calibrated.

Also, as has been mentioned in another post, Felix is customer service (and very good at what he does), he is not a tech and does not perform the actual work. If he says a particular technical thing was found or was done, he's reporting what the techs told him.

I'm copying the thread link to our customer service department so the problem can be satisfactorily resolved.

When i first got the cz i did my test the same room it was doing 12 inches plus, use it on the beach with awesome results "it was broken" yesterday when i took it to the park it was behaving erratic at 4+ sensivity, i couldnt used the all metal mode but what ive read it supose to be the deepest mode, a quater at 5 inches if i went back in all metal mode it could bearly read it

Btw it has same results with the box mounted on the top of the shaft away fron any metal

Even if other problem was developed after the calibration my broken detector was pulling deep coins changing a id window that sometimes worked, now i have a fully functional 6 inch depth machine

I don't think Teknetics and Fisher are at different ends of the repair quality spectrum since they are both owned by parent company First Texas. I would guess there is at the very least significant crossover in the repair dept.

But don't be sad, juit. Don't cry. And definitely don't off yourself over this. That would be taking this hobby a bit too seriously.

You probably don't appreciate my levity, but in all seriousness there is a bright side for you. Dave Johnson stepped in to get this problem satisfactorily resolved, which is a very positive development.

Years ago, he did the same for me when I was having F5 issues and the problem was properly resolved with his help.

My kudos to Dave J. I guarantee there is no other lead engineer for any detector manufacturer who would voluntarily stick their nose into a sticky situation like this.

My repair experiences with them have been on the positive side of ledger. But humans can and do make mistakes, hold off your final judgement until this plays out.

Please keep us posted on this thread and good luck.

Hope a solution is found which you are satisfied with. They are good folks and will do their best to satisfy you. It's all the same factory, same team...Fisher, Teknetics Bounty hunter. Folks working hard in the USA to produce quality products at a fair price.
