That's a standard Union army Civil War coat button. If you dug that up with your CZ-70, it's the nicest "dug" button I've ever seen. Did you clean it? I've dug up several of them with my CZ-70 but never anything that looked that good.
This is commonly the condition of the ones we dig around here...

Probably made between about 1858 and 1865. You may be able to find an exact match to it by doing some google searching. I found the link below, which has some that are very close.

Looks To Be A Union Style General Staff Button.

extra quality back in the Civil war era? I would think it would be a more current button? But I don't have a clue.

I'm here in central Florida and we don't see any buttons like these. I didn't have a clue that buttons fetched such prices either.

Mike

Mike this is the few buttons that I have found over the years, I don't know anything about them or if they are worth anything....

They look like they are U.S. AirForce Buttons. Could be wrong, been a while since I have seen any of my uniforms.

They probably are Bud, I have a ROTC pin with the same insignia on it as the two buttons.

Those sure are pretty buttons.
You can imagine my surprise when I found this gold and sterling pin 2 winters ago in the middle of the same pasture where I found an 1849 Large Cent. All with my CZ-70, sens 4 of course.

Mike have you been able to identify the pin? Sure is a nice one.
