Nice Ring Recovery

I haven't posted in a dog's age, but then I have spent most of my time in waist deep salt water lately.

Well...

I got a call from a buddy of mine on ring finders and he referred me to a man who's wife lost her wedding band of 15 years somewhere on the front lawn. She had been gardening and off slipped both the engagement and wedding band. They managed to recover the engagement ring but the wedding band was not to be found. That was about 3 months ago. I drove over to the house with the trusty mxt with the DD eclipse coil and first took a reading on the engagement ring in the grass. VDI 9 foil/ring signal, then proceeded to hunt. There was so much EMI that I had to turn the gain down to 3 to stabilize the detector; never seen that much! After a recovery of a nickel at 5" and a 1/2 hour hunt I nailed a signal of VDI 9 at 3" down. Pulled out a nice plug and stuck the pro-pointer in the hole and there she was! His little girl wanted to get in on the action so I had her hold the rings. The bottom ring they had recovered and the top diamond band the MXT sniffed out. What a great start to a Thanksgiving Day celebration. I was thrilled to recover the ring and the his gratitude was worth the effort. He gave me $60 bucks which sweetened the event. Hope everyone has a safe and memorable Thanksgiving . God bless and keep hunting. Marty

Good deed done Marty.........:clapping: Kinda makes one wonder how it got three inches deep in three months.

That's a wonderful Thanksgiving find. It warms the heart. I've never excepted any monetary offerings. I figure a good deed is well worth it's weight in gold.............and a BIG hug. HH, Nancy

Yes, I did not expect it to be that deep but it was. The soil here in jacksonville is sandy and probably that is the reason for the depth. We have gotten a bit of rain and combined with the sand makes for a bit of mud at times just below the Saint Augustine grass. Just a thought. Marty

Yep, sandy soil and rain will do it.
