Well today sucked

I had been planning all week to hit the beach with my wife and MXT today and last night I switched to my 950 coil, put the scoop, detector and goody bag into the car and swent to sleep dreaming of some gold and silver. Fast forward to today. We get to the beach, my wife finds a nice spot and I take off to the towel line ready to score. I'm tooling along and I hear nothing! I'm thinking "crap this is the cleanest beach ever!" Because it was so quiet I thought I better check to see if my detector is working so I put the coil next to my sand scoop and nothing. No overload, no sound, nothing. Coil is dead, doesn't work. I took it off and put it back on and still nothing.
I bought it used from a sponsor on here and like an idiot I hadn't checked it yet to see if it was going to work. Also like an idiot I left my other coil at home, 40 minutes away.

So now what do I do with the 950? Throw it away? Will it be more to fix than what I paid?

Hope your hunting was better.

Dave

Call the sponsor and tell him what happened perhaps he was too busy to check it out thoroughly or something happened during shipping . All the sponsors I've dealt with here have been pretty straight shooters . I think it would be safe to say he will make it right with you . A few weeks ago I got to my hunting destination turned on my machine and nothing happened , I had left my rechargeables at home charging . I usually keep a spare detector and equipment in my vehicle but I wasn't familiar with the area and was afraid it might get stolen . Scratch that hunt !

Good luck , keep us posted ,
George

White's seems to be sympathetic and supportive in situations like yours. If your dealer does not make it right, I would bet White's does.........

While a broken coil is a bit out of the ordinary, I am sure most of us has gotten to a hunt site only to find out something isn't right. I walked a mile into the woods only to find out my headphones were in the car. Sometimes we just have to stop and smell the roses. Hope the wife enjoyed the extra time you got to spend with her. PS I have since gotten into the habit of ground balancing once before I leave my car...it aint gonna happen twice

Take your machine to the local detector shop. Sure they'll let you test out another coil on your machine. I always buy local, this is one of the reasons to do so.

Once went for the weekend to gold prospect. Drove 2 hours into the mtns, hiked a grueling 3/4 mile 40-55 degree mtn.side and found I forgot my battery pack. Had 16 extra batteries and nothing to put them into. Did catch the biggest German Brown trout I've ever caught in such a small stream so wasn't a total waste.
