I think the 5.3, is the best but i do have the 4x6 dd. I just like the 5.3 for pinpointing, and i think it gose a little deeper.

I'd go with the 5.3 also. I have both the 5.3 & the 4x6DD. The 4X6 can't be beat it the trashiest sites but the 5.3 is almost as good in trash, pinpoints better and goes deeper than the 4x6.

I also just bought the 5.3 since everyone seems to love it. Let's hope it's as good as everyone says.

Small coil? How about the "best all-purpose coil?"

That's right, you're heard it four times already, and there's no way I could change my opinion about the current coil selections ... the 6½" diameter Eclipse 5.3 is The Best ... Period!

I keep that coil on my MXT Pro, M6, and will start using it more now on the VX3 and V3i. Of all the current Whit's models the MXT pro is the one I grab almost 90% of the time, and I very, very seldom change the 5.3 Eclipse fr the 950 or 12" coils. I only go to them when I hunt the beach or a large, plowed field, or some similar application.

I agree the 5.3 is an excellent choice. I didn't see anyone else mention it, but it serves pretty well as a go to general use coil even in areas not so trashy. As I use it and the 4X6 both, I feel it is worth passing on that the 4X6 IMHO is a very specific use coil best utilized in really heavy trash conditions although it does well at getting close to playground poles etc. in tot lots as well. Down side is moderate depth and poor ground coverage, but if one hunts in heavy trash quite often, it definitely serves a purpose.
