thinking about getting an mxt

I currently own an m6. Since it works at the same frequency as an mxt and is basically an mxt stuck in coin/jewelry mode, im thinking about getting one and keepinb my m6 as a backup unit. Im quite impressed with the little tiny junk I pick up with the m6. I also like to hunt in creeks around here and would love to do some prospecting but that is not my main focus in detecting. Having 3 machines in one seems to be the way to go imho. Im interested in everyones input on my decision

Think the MXT will become your main machine.

I'm with Vito, the MXT will be your main machine. Once you get out and use the MXT you won't want to use your M6. Yes, the M6 would be a back up machine for sure.

If you want a prospecting mode as well, the mxt will be the logical choice.Don't expect miracles with the mxt over the m6 though.......in a side by side comparison with the same coil, the m6 will hit every target that the mxt will. Also,if you like doing a bit of saltwater beach hunting, the m6 will run rings round the mxt at the beach.
The mxt is a great machine, but the m6 is every bit as good and thats why whites won't stop producing it.

When I go beach hunting I'm going to take both units, won't be in water but I'll be around edge of water.

The m6 works very well in the shallow surf too......really stable and deep for a single frequency detector.I used mine with both the 12"coil and the 950 coil and found I prefered the 950.

I couldn't agree more with Neil.I own both of them and brought them out together on many outings.I used them side by side(identical coils) and my M6 hit on every target loud and clear that my MXT did,and I have the pro version.I am not saying one is better than the other. They both hit on targets at equal depths. If you do get an MXT get the pro version. It has TID,backlight and ground grab.To me it was worth the extra money cause I'm a tone guy and like to hunt at night.Good luck and HH!

I owned, learned the M6 and the MXT.MXT all the way.I had much better results for my style of hunting with the MXT.Bill

I have the mxt. It came with a 6x10 and I was out messing with it a little today. Only dug 3 targets, but one was a solid hit at 9" and turned out to be a 1965 penny. The other was a small necklace pendant, and a surface penny. I like the option of hunting in different modes, such as prospecting or relic. When I had my dfx many years ago I hunted in relic mode. Im impressed with both units and will keep my m6 as a backup.

That's pretty awesome! Three targets! You're really going to get a lot of good use out of your machine. Congratulations and HH, Nancy

Penny at 9 inches. Good! You'll love the 6x10. To me the best coil in the White's Eclipse range for all purpose hunting.
Congrats and HH.

If you beach hunt on the wet salty sand Forget about it. Won't work. Dry beach sand it's ok'ish

I agree Ron,the mxt is hopeless on the wet salt sand.......the M6 is far more useable. Also, the sef 8x6 coil is a better coil than the whites 10x6,much sharper........this coil stayed on my mxt alll the time.....never found the need to change it.
