dig the solid signals

Was out hunting the local football field and came across a vdi of 6. Normally ill keep walking but yhe sound was too good so I dug. It was only 3 inches but a nickel. Ive never had a nickel vdi that low before

Was there something under the nickel? That's a big possibility.

That's what I'm thinking. Foil or possibly can slaw covering; as this would be a first for me - a nickle under 10!!!

Re-checking the hole, after pulling the find is always a good habit to get into. You just never know what might have been missed, or caused the skewed ID #'s.

Nothing else in hole, I put pinpointer in and swept coil over again, nothing but the nickel

That's quite strange. Had to be something close by for your detector to read 6. Did you check the VDI on the nickel after it was out of the hole? Never heard of such thing.

Did not check after it came out. Nothing for about 5' around me. I thought it was odd also but it just sounded too good not to dig.
