Guy staying in same hotel as me. Suffering like the rest of us with sanded in beaches. Couple days ago he's working the water line, using just enough discrimination to calm his machine. We all been digging everything cause ain't much to dig. Well he hits a large bouncing signal, tent peg. Checks area still crummy signal. Another tent peg. Again, bouncing signal, said jumping between penny and quarter. Might know yet! Up comes one of those heavy Silver necklace. I weighed it for him 64 dwt (penny weight)
Beautiful except catch on clasp needs fixed. Now I neverhunted a Whites but I'm relating the story as close as I can. He said it reminded him of a rusty beer cap. Admittedly he also said he's.passed on this type of signal in the past. But like I said the beach is pretty quiet so he dug and scored. Hope this helps someone out .

Good story and makes me think I've been passing some goodies too!

Great story and lesson learned. Thank you for sharing it. When I have done beach hunting, any little noise was a dig and usually had a find. Usually a pulltab, bobby pin, piece of rusted nail, etc.. But with beach hunting, always did those scratchy bouncy signals.
