MXT upgrade to MXT Pro?

Hi gang,
I have an MXT I bought years ago but has not seen a whole lot of action except for a little nugget shooting and coin shooting when I was in California.
I've got the Eclipse 1400 DD coil, Eclipse 5 1/2 x 10 DD coil, 950 coil and a huge HotShot coil for it.

My question is this: For those of you who used the MXT but upgraded to the MXT Pro, was there much benefit?

Performance identical, but the All Pro which I have has tones, backlight, and no forward pulltab reject switch. All coils interchange.

Several years ago I was originally going to get an MXT but a friend of mine who had one told me if I was just going to use it for coinshooting I should get an M6 for the tones and save a few bucks .Well I got one in an incredible deal and loved it .When the MXT Pro came out I liked all the extra features and got one , I'm glad I did . I've got a few different makes of other detectors but if I only were to keep two it would be the MXT PRO and the M6 .From what I have seen and read the old MXTS will find the same coins as the newer MXT PRO models will but it is nice to have all the new features .

I ordered an MXT Pro from the Classified Forum here and got an excellent deal. When I lived in California I founds lots of goodies with the MXT.
However, the only drawback with the MXT is that in Coin mode it had only one tone. So I would coin shoot in Relic mode because I got tired of
constantly looking at the screen in Coin mode. Relic has two tones.
Now, with the Pro I won't have to do that. However, it is my experience that hunting in Relic mode will hit better on a deeper coin. I also ordered the SEF 6x8 pro coil for the detector.
Does anyone know if Relic Mode on the Pro has 7 tones too as in Coin mode?

I never even had tried to see if there were tones in the relic mode but I just did after reading your post .. I was surprised to see there were different tones not only in the relic mode but the prospecting as well , although, the tones sound different in the different modes . Coins sound the best in the coin mode naturally . As far as the depth goes I will have to try that out in the field ( If I ever get a chance to go out again ).I have the SEF 6X8 coil and prefer it to both the 6X10 and the 10" DD.

I also have both. I love my old MXT but have had it for a backup since purchasing the MXT Pro. Not a lot of difference if you hunt in relic mode. JMHO. HH, Nancy

What if you hit the forward pulltab reject switch but in the ground it is a gold ring near the pull tab range? I image one would lose the gold ring, right?

At least where I detected, the relic mode was decidedly deeper.
That's cool to know there are more than two tones now in the Relic mode!
I got my SEF 6x8 coil yesterday. My MXT Pro is expected to be here by Tuesday.

By, "Not a lot of difference if you hunt in relic mode" do you mean depth is the same and sounds are the same as in Coin mode?

Just as stated, The MXT vs. MXT Pro is basically the same when hunting in Relic mode. Yes, also as deep too. I rarely hunt in coin mode but the Pro has different tones while in coin mode if you want.

A trick with the pro is if you set your detector to "tone id on" in C&J then switch it to relic mode, the multi-tones will carry over into relic. If you hit the tone button while in relic you will loose the multi-tones and will have to start over. its a bug that whites decided to leave in.

Dude! You're awesome! Thanks so much for that information!

I haven't checked yet but when I go from C&J to Relic and then back to C&J, it probably stays in "tone id"?

Don't forget that the number of tones you get in multi-tone is dependent on where you have your discrimination set. no disc you'll get all tones, where as if you set disc above nickel you may only get a couple.
