I Received my MXT Pro Yesterday

I received my MXT Pro yesterday from a person selling it on the for sale forum here. It is supposed to be used but
neither the detector nor coil looks like it was ever used. I do see a little scuff where the arm cuff went on the shaft, but that's about it.

Having had success with the MXT years ago in California, this should be a treat now that it has different tones.
The Shooter DD coil was shipped with it since I have all the other coils except that one.

Now I just have to wait for the rains to go away.
I have every Eclipse coil for the MXT except the newest 10" DD coil. Do you think I should get that coil?
HH everyone!

Tony, congrats on the new MXT Pro. The MXT is one of the all-time great detectors and still easily holds its own against any other detector out there. Great that you got a fair deal on your new detector too.

As for coils, I never really liked the White's 10" DD. Sensitive to EMI and I had one go bad on me for no reason, so I don't really trust them. Heavy too. For a big coil, I'd recommend either the 10x12 SEF or the 13" Ultimate. With the shooter and all the other eclipse coils, you are set for everything else except the big coil.

Can't wait to hear the stories of your finds start rolling in. Good luck!

Get that coil Tony ! It's freaking awesome and will get DEEP silver along with low conductors. I love that coil on my MXT Pro.

Found 3 V Nickles first time out with it.

Gotta admit the MXT and MXT Pro is one fantastic machine. Simple, deep, fast recovery speed, easy to use...I can go on but we all know how great that unit is.

I like the Pro due to the tone option. Been a tone hunter for decades so I snapped a Pro up the second they came out. Will keep this unit forever.

Hey Wayfarer, I also have the 12" Hot Shot round coil by Applied Technologies I got years ago. In all metal, on my DFX I can hear a silver in the mix of trash believe it or not with that coil. Not too much trash mind you..
But yea, the 13" SEF coil is great. I have one for my E-trac.
Thanks for the heads up on the White's 10" DD.

On my old MXT I always detected for coins in Relic mode. Maybe I'll try Coin mode on this MXT Pro now that it has multi-tones. But . . . I still believe Relic is deeper!

Okay, therover, I'm going to look into the 13".

Thanks Wayfarer and therover for the coil tip! :beers:

I use relic mode all the time too, don't know if it's deeper, but it just "clicks" better with my brain for some reason. Relic mode on the Pro is the same as the old MXT, no tones, just the high/low and that third tone for the deep whisper targets. The new tone ID feature on the Pro is only on the Coin mode, which is really nice to have if you like Tone ID. It works the same as the M6 tones.

One thing I like about the Ultimate 13" is that it is one of the few aftermarket coils that is sold by White's, so you know it's been through thorough testing and quality control. An like therover, I can confirm that the U13 is killer. Those v-nickels seem to magically pop out of the ground for me too using that coil. :twodetecting:

Hi Wayfarer,
I just purchased the 13" Ultimate for the MXT Pro. It is slightly used. The guy filled in the cavities in the bottom of the coil supposedly to keep dirt out. I hope it doesn't add too much to the weight.

Yea, when I lived in California, coinshooting in Relic mode with my MXT E-Tracker Series was something I figured out on my own that worked for me. I swore it was deeper and more accurate depth wise. But I could be deceiving myself too. :-)

I ordered the 13 inch Ultimate

It will be interesting to see how it works with the MXT Pro.

Congratulations on your MXT Pro purchase. I love both my MXTs. Please give us a shout how your detecting goes. We too have rain now but it's a welcoming sight. It was so dry here and way too dry to do any detecting.

Hi Tony please keep us posted on your finds.

Nothing comes easy on this old farm. The coin is not worth much but it shows me I'm on the right track with the 8x6 SEF coil.
It was down about 5 to 6 or so inches. It took a lot of work digging out the gravel. It was a squeeker between the iron crap.
Not far from this coin, years ago I dug out a barber dime. I'm sure there is more in there but oh so hard to detect.

Very nice. I bet there's more there also. Thanks for sharing and I hope you find many many more old coins so you can share them with us.

I'm unable to do any detecting now because of a broken foot. :sadwalk: I hate it because the weather is fantastic and the ground is nice and moist. So, seeing your finds makes me happy. Thanks!!!

First of all, I am really sorry about your broken foot! I hope you recover quickly! FYI, Comfrey leaves made into a poltice and applied to the broken bone will heal it MUCH quicker than just waiting for the body to heal it. I have plenty of it growing on my farm if you need some for free.

Thanks for being happy about my finds. This has been a banner year for me finding coins on this old farm. Still nothing super old but some were d-e-e-p! Most are mixed in with trash and it is quite a challenge to hear them.

Thank you, I've not heard of Comfrey leaves but you know I'll be Googling it after I post this.

I bet there's plenty more in the old farm land. Once you get some of that junk out, no telling what you could find, I wish you lots of luck and happiness.

Comfrey leaves. How interesting and yes, it's a healing agent. I think I recall seeing those plants at my Aunt & Uncles fields. Seemed as though they grew alone and about a foot high or so and had big leaves. Maybe that would be a good plant to have around the yard. Thank you Tony.
