Hi Everyone!
I spoke with Executive producer at Nat Geo today to find out about the ratings and wether they wanted to do more shows or not. She said they were very concerned about all the flak they were taking about diggers. Diggers was filmed by another production company and sold to Nat Geo.
I informed her that all the feedback for the Lucky Muckers show I received, was posative and that this is the kind of show you said you want to see. She said they received lots of e-mails concerning how much people didn't like diggers but she had not heard any good responces about Lucky Muckers.
She told me if that is the kind of show you want to see I shoud let you know to write and tell them.

She also said the show should air again in the next couple weeks.

Ron, I have not seen either show, but have seen many positive comments about the one you were featured on. That being said, I'm still of the opinion that no publicity is good publicity when it comes to metal detecting and treasure hunting in general.

Currently running the Minelab E-Trac, Excalibur and Garrett Pro Pointer.

I didn't think it provided a good image for the hobby in several ways, but have to say that American Diggers is ten times worse. A growing theme on that show seems to be having confrontations with land owners. Just saw a preview of the next show and that was once again prominent. Not good...

Think I'm finally home after a lot of years searching for my particular needs. Custom 1.5 lb lighter Sovereign GT (easy to do by just "building" lighter shaft) & SEF 12x10 as everyday coil. 8" Tornado (actually 7.25") as super heavy trash coil (Very deep & separates better than typical 8/9" true size coils). 13" Ultimate for large fields/beaches on certain days I want to grid faster than even the 12x10's nice improvement over stock for that. Stock 10" Tornado stays on water rig (stock shaft). ProPointer. Owned 15x12 & SunRay S-5 (5.5") at one time. Loaned a prior 13" Ultimate & SunRay S-12 (12.5").

Some Oldest Silver- 1835 Bust Dime, 1842 "O" Seated Dime, 1855 Seated Quarter, 1858 3 Cent Piece, 1891 Seated Dime, & another Seated Quarter too damaged to read date. Highest Value- 3 Cent Piece, Seated Quarter, & now 1921 F-12 Standing Liberty. Oldest Coin? Got to give large cents a good look & see. 2013 so far- 1 Seated Quarter, 1 Barber Quarter, 1 Standing Liberty, 2 Washingtons, 1 Barber Dime, 9 Mercs, 3 Rosies. 1 War Nickel. 19 silvers in total, & 1 1872 key date Indian, 2 Bufallos, 1 man's 14K gold medium sized ring & 1 gold chain, with possibility of few 8"+ deep mystery coins being Indians after cleaning.

What matters in life is the journey and not the desitination. How you handle that journey determines if you were a success, not so much what you achieved if and when you finally get there, especially if you made it by stepping on people along the way...

i think this is true also the lower we fly under the radar the better, enjoy the hobby with no need for us to bring undue attention to ourselves. showing the world all the goodies and not the trash is not real and will just promote a false economy and un educated people with detectors.

Believe me I understand where you are coming from. I don't want any more morons on the beach or in the parks either. My point is Treasure hunting is a hot topic right now, everyone is being contacted by production companys to get shows on the air. It is going to happen, my hope is that I can put a posative spin on the show. Talking about history, returning items when possable, donating finds to the museums to share with my kids and yours.
To show all the posative aspects of the hobby, that it's not about the money for most of us. I would like to have people watch a show that shows how to do it right.
Hell last year I returned more 20,000 dollars worth of jewlery. It's about doing the right thing even if it hurts. LOL

I know not everyone likes the idea of more shows and more competition. But how long do you really think these new hunters will last. 50 bottle caps, 40 pulltabs, and 1.98 and the maching will go on e-bay.

Hey Ron, I have seen American Diggers and didn't like it, changed the channel after 15 minutes. I saw Lucky Muckers and watched the whole thing wanting more.....that's a winner. John

lucky muckers was a very well put together program.... if people watching it didnt have the mute button activated they would have heard you explain about the special permits and rules the mudlarks had to aquire and adhear to for each specific beach being hunted,they would have heard the warning of hazards and tide changes,they would have heard about the one of a kind platnum 50 diamond ring you returned to the designers son,they would have heard that you got rewarded very generously for your honesty...they also would have gotten a nice little history lesson about the different atifacts which were recovered....i would definatly enjoy watching another program of this quality and integrity...... although i must say watching the WWF guy and his band of gypsys repair underground water pipes with bubble gum and spit all the while not informing the owner does have a certain comediac appeal ..it most certainly is doing damage to young and wayward minds.... that other show with the two cornballs making up slang words for the things they found wasnt a bad show it was just hard to listen to those guys.... what i really liked about the lucky muckers program was the lack of holywood BS.... best of luck to ya....

i have seen the show and its nothing like the diggers show i liked it to ...cause it wasn't about making money but about the history of the finds

Considering all the negativity that these shows have created we'd all be better off if they just faded away from the public eye. The only benefits would be short term to detector manufacturers and dealers, but, would likely lead to laws severely hurting all of us in the long run. I tried watching an episode of American Diggers and was so disgusted by those arrogant bottom feeders I had to turn it off. They made us all look like a bunch slimy scavengers.
The main problem, as I see it, is that networks don't really care about presenting the truth as much they do selling advertising space, even if that requires hurting a whole group by only showing a twisted and sensationalized version of the reality and cherry picking the worst of the worst. Nobody cares about seeing the early morning coinshooter in the park or a hand full of beach hunters politely and responsibly working an empty beach and filling their holes. It's the times we live in and we'd better off without the publicity.

If you were just listening and not watching lucky muckers, it sounded like an old episode of Dragnet
