I guess it would depend on what criteria you are looking for. I've heard good things about T-Rex. I personally use a Stealth which comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Both are good scoops. Stealth has the best warranty of any product, any time, any where. That made the decision easy for me. Sunspot is fantastic people to deal with too.

The T Rex is a good scoop. I have been using one for 4 years. It is heavier than the Stealth and the warranty on the stealth can not be beat.

Either one will serve you well.

I went with the 720i - U bolt design. I also went with the hybrid bucket with the small holes on the bottom. I like the U bolt figuring if I had to do a field replacement on the handle I could. you could also just bring the scoop and no handle in a carry on and get a handle where ever you are traveling to. Of course I have a two piece aluminum scoop with stainless tip that I take on planes also.

Awesome scoop but probably better in the water than on the dry sand. I would go with a wire basket bottom if I was doing more or all dry sand hunting. Lighter and faster sifting.

The Stealth is a beast in the rocky areas which I hunt in a lot. The open hole pattern and wide bucket make spotting and retrieving finds a breeze.

A word of caution. when you dig a full bucket with this scoop it weighs ~10 maybe 15 lbs. It can be quite a work out. Of course you will develop lifting techniques that work like dragging to the side of the hole or getting a lift assist handle for the wooden handle.

Anyway you can't go wrong with the stealth.

stateguyt.
T rex or stealth 920i is too heavy for an active search.

It is better to choose a lighter one and compare:
Stealth Scoop 720i Tube or Stavr scoop Evroexcavator-2 v.33 (or v.22 —Ālassic design)
ps:720i - unprecedented warranty or Evroexcavator-2 - Light and innovation

mine did crack at the base of the handle so took it to a welder friend and had it repaired and he beefed up the area, that was two years ago and I have put it thru hell, holding up great with no stress cracks, super strong now....

I purchased mine and the dealer sent me the original model. I didn't know that the original models were still on the market and it did crack. Sent it to the Dealer who had it made and he had it repaired (updated) and then sent it back to me. No charge for anything even though the warranty had expired. I beat the dickens out of it and for the past almost three years it has been pulling up quite a few pounds of wet sand with no signs of failure.

Hole can make all the difference in the world. The 1/4" holes on a shelly beach is a pain. I use a Starvr scoop ...great scoop. But I have to give credit to Chuck too for repairs/warranty. His newest version IMO with his CF handle is well balanced and lighter than my scoop.
