Howdy,
Hey, I was just wonderin what part of Montana, ?
I am in the S.W. corner, and I'm right next to ALOT of claims.
Send me a private message if you'd like.
I have a 4 wheeler and some horses. So, I can get around .
Ya never know, your in-laws claims could be just up the road , possibly.
Dont get me wrong, i am in no way a claim jumper type.
But I do know my area, and it sure would be fun to detect with someone that actually has an Mxt.
And it doesnt have to be on your claim. theres quite a bit of good ground around .
I can also show you some Really cool gems and minerals from around here.
Like Epidote, Garnet, Sapphirre, Soapstone, Birds Egg Opal, stuff like that.
Let me know what you think.

I asked my wife where some of the claims were and she thought one of the areas was something like Argentia or Argentine? Does that sound familiar to you? There is also a Sapphire claim not too far off the Interstate that runs into Idaho. It would be nice to have some company and meet somebody that has knowledge of the area. The mother in law lives up near Glacier and we're hoping to get up there this summer.

Hmm,
Theres an "Arlee", and an "Anaconda"
They both are in the S.W. corner here.
Well, keep in touch, and come summer, maybe we can hook up.
Boy, if you get up around Glacier, i.e. Kallispell, whitefish, glacier itself, That is a major tourism area.
Theres skiing, whitewater rafting, Glacier park, Flathead lake, Theres sandy beaches all around the lake.
Theres ALOT of money up that way. Could be Great Detecting.
You should have fun in Montana.
If your into fishin, seeins how you dont live here, I'll point you to some Brown trout , "as long as your arm".
.
No Kidding.
Keep in touch,
Dusty

I did a little research thru the wife and it appears the MIL actually owns a mine within a mile of an old ghost town called "Argenta" on Rattlesnake Creek. Is that near Bannack? If you send me a PM I'll give you the name of the mine.

Hi RJ
I tryed to PM you, but one or both of us cant.
Try Pm 'in me.
???
Anyhow , yeah, thats near Bannack.
If thats where you'll be next summer, you'll be , idk, 45 min to an hour away from my in-laws
Pretty neat country down there. Neat enough for Ted Turner to own ground ,in that area. LOL
You keep in touch, we can hook up and do some treasure hunting!
I have permission on quite a bit of private land down by the in-laws, theres old schoolhouses, Stagestops , old huntin camps
and a few are not known to the average person.
Anyhow,
take care,
Dusty

Dusty,
I have no idea how to do the PM thing. Guess I'm too new to the forum. Anyway, one of her claims is either called the "Jack Rabbit" or the mine is called the "Jack Rabbit" not sure which. Sounds like you have some neat places to detect. We've done a few stagestops here in Colorado and they're always good for a few old coins. HINT: always look long and hard around the base of any old chimney/fireplace.

Nice, Thanks for the tip,
maybe you have a tip for this situation

My girlfriends Dad, lived and worked a ranch in the Big Hole for 20 plus years.
He took me out to an old site where an old schoolhouse was.
Flat country, sandy with some cobble.sagebrushy , well off the beaten path.
it was hard to find, and he knew where it was.
just a hole ,sorta, where the basement was, and broken pieces of an old wood stove.
metal junk all around.
We hunted it for maybe an hour, too much iron trash.
he said there was a barn for the horses there too, but never found where it was.?
Anyhow, we got tired of digging junk and left.
I was tryin to figure out which side the front door would have been on.as per wind ,sun, ?
I joked , and asked where they parked theyre cars,, LOL
Anyhow, that spot is still there, and he doesnt know of anyone ever hunting it, as he was the Rnach foreman /Caretaker
He did say , he has found coins , by eye, on the cattle/horse trails, where the hands mustve dropped a coin while diggin in a pocket while ridin.
Anyhow,
That spot would sure be availiable next summer.

Catch ya later,
Dusty

My MXT has the 6X10 DD but in the area you describe my wife's MXT with the little Eclipse coil seems to work better in heavy trashy ground. I had some fun today helping my neighbor find his wedding ring. He lost it in the snow while stringing Xmas lights. Found it without too much trouble so that made my day. It was a nice platinum ring so I can see why he was anxious to find it.

Howdy, Mr.Walker,
Nice job on the ring. I bet they were happy as heck.

I checked out the link.
I'm impressed. I was a U.S. Army Avionics Mechanic for 4 years. Actually I was stationed at Ft. Carson in 87/88
Sometimes I think I blew a great opportunity, by not staying in the field.
But , I got out and went to Farrier School, no regrets.

Well, Good to meet you,
Take Care ,
and Be Safe.
