Here is a quote from the Fisher web site: "Fisher Gold Bug Special Edition introductory special price is now over and the SE transitions into the Pro model at the normal retail of $699 now in place. The SE was a great price for a great product while the special introductory price lasted. The Gold Bug will now be available for $549 without the manual ground balance, no VCO in discrimination and slightly less sensitivity to small nuggets than the PRO model."
So, as I understand it, the Gold Bug Pro is the same as the original Gold Bug SE...just a different name, and as the previous poster indicated, the Gold Bug DP is the same as the Pro, but it has the 11" DD coil, as opposed to the 5" DD.
