I second Pete's opinion. 13" Detech Ultimate coil has been terrific so far. Yes the depth reading is off as many coils are, but pin-pointing is right on. I had a D2 and did not like the weight/balance and I never made any great finds with it so I cant comment on its depth. I ended up trading it for an Eclipse 6x10 which I really like. Just my humble opinion here. Good luck everyone and HH. Matt

Matt,

Which do you like better the 13" Detech or the 6x10 Eclipse? Most of what I have read says as the coil gets larger the less likely it will find the small stuff. Do you find this true with the 13" Detech? I have the the 6x10 Eclipse and have made many good finds, it pinpoints very well and I have found things as small as a staple with this coil. I typically hunt California beaches (high mineralization) and parks. In the parks I have found clad dimes down to about 10" and on the beach maybe 8". I am considering the 13" Detech for the beach mainly for more ground coverage per sweep but I don't want to loose the sensitivity to the small stuff. From what I have read so far most people who are using the 13" Detech are pretty happy with it, but I haven't heard of it's sensitivity to small objects.

Thanks,
Ramiro

Hey Ramiro. I have no problem getting coins with the 13". Smaller targets Im not sure. I have found small shards of aluminum. I dont want to tell you that the 13" will positvely hit the targets you seek. I have no beach experience at all. I also use the Eclipse 6x10 and love it. The 13" is a great coil for my conditions and targets. I hope you can connect with someone who has real beach experience with the 13". Maybe start a specific thread here seeking the info you need. I know I wasnt a big help but I am being honest. Good luck and HH. Matt
