Anyone using a one frequency program for coin shooting?

I put together a single frequency program for coinshooting and was wondering if it made any sense to do so. I'm under the impression that 15KHZ would be ideal for finding deep silver. Is this true? What other ideas does anyone have regarding single frequencies for coinshooting? Thanks in advance. HH. Matt

It depends on how mineralized your ground is, In good ground the 3Khz is best for high conducting targets, otherwise I have heard both frequencies are about the same in very mineralized ground.

Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.

Thanks for the response Larry. I guess I'm trying to figure out how to create a cherry picking program that would cut down on the clad finds and focus on silver. Anyone have any ideas on a killer silver program? Thanks. Matt

Just take your best program,a tweeked deep silver if clean ground. Then just accept 79vdi and up. Remember that 11 -12 inch deep silver can wrap around to -95-94.If not clean ground then you may as well use a weaker program and just dig the high #s.Good Luck Yazoo

You are setting yourself up for disappointment Matt. Although a silver coin might ID a couple of numbers higher when there is no wear on the coin, you will most likely find silver coins with some wear and will ID the same as a clad. If you are looking for some older dimes, Barbers and Seateds, you will often encounter the expression of "one thin dime" where an older coin saw a LOT of hands in it's useful life. Those oldies will often ID 10-15 #'s less than what you would expect. Then we get into masked coins, multiples in the same hole, angled coins and especially the deep silver that sounds nothing like the surface coins, sometimes no ID at all.

If you like silver or gold or collectible coins, dig all of the clad you can and at the end of the year buy something nice that you would love to have found. That is your little reward for digging all of that clad and your silver coin finds will go way up too if you don't get too selective in the VDI's.

This is my clad from this year so far and I just got done tumbling them and took to the bank, over $330...........that will buy a lot of silver dimes my friend. There were some years Nancy and I found over $1000 in clad, one year $1,200. PLUS a lot of silver and some gold too.

Thanks guys, you are saving me a lot of time and disappointment. I hope this info helps others too. Great pic of clad!

Great clad larry your a Monster. I run the single 15klhz alot and love it for general all around hunting. But im sure the 3klhz properly setup would be great for old deep silver clad.

In noisy ground that is difficult I use 3khz and a DD coil with good results. I think this is covered in Digging Deeper w/DFX. I use DC phase and the amount of chatter to determine if I'm going to swap to my saved 3khz prgm. Lower frequencies do well on silver.

what do you mean by deep silver clad? Or just clad? Because I'm sure these folks are not talking about finding U.S coins minted from 1965 and beyond which only consist of a copper core with an outside layer of silver like colored nickel/copper alloy. It's not real silver! If a coin is silver, it does not matter how worn down it is, it will still give you the same reading.

It is a very simple concept that Larry brings up

Save the clad...then buy the silver. It's always fun to find the silver, but about $3.00 in clad will buy you a non key date silver quarter.

Like my Dad always says " I will pick up pennies all day long"

use 3khz non normalized vdi bury some coins and trash to see what they read the lowering of vdi on high conductors will bring deep coins reading iron -80 to -95 or so down to +90 to +95, also non normalized 3khz makes aluminum id easyer ,just do some tests as this method can be a little confusing at first
