Using Larry program has got me my first seated quarter it was 9 inches in the ground . How would be the best way to clean it up Thank.


Minelab CTX3030 / Excalibur ll / Whites V3i-DFX-XLT-Beach Hunter 300 -Surf PI Pro / Lesche Sasmpson T handel Digging Shovel / DX-1 / XL-1 and Bulleye II probes / Garrett Pro pointer / Whites wireless hp / Sun Ray Pro Gold hp / Rattler hp / Macally wireless hp Have been detecting sent 2005 mainly hunting for old coins.

Congratulations Tim, that is a very nice find. I think I would try soap and water with my fingertips first and see if that would make it good enough to admire. I have also used a silver dip which should make a big improvement on looks but collector value will suffer because you just shouldn't clean a collector coin. You might try the hot peroxide trick too and see if that would help.


Bells and whistles are nice, but nothing will substitute for the basic understanding of the hobby.

Beautiful coin Tim and hey, it is your pride and joy and I think you did the right thing cleaning it, mounted in a bezel and enjoy it. I did the same thing with my first (and only) gold coin find. I wear it 24/7/365.

I'm one of the first to say not to clean a coin but hey, that coin did have a lot of exposure to years of rough conditions and "making it yours" was a great decision. Lots of detail (Bet it was uncirculated when lost.) makes it perfect for what you did. (If it had smooth surfaces I'd be groaning.) Wear that thang with pride Tim and "sport the booty"! Fun!
