I've been reading a-lot about wireless headphones and every time I'd go mding, I'd swear before the day was over that I was going to check into buying a set because that cord is always getting I my way

Don, I remember some postings a few weeks ago ago praising this particular model of wireless headphones. Looking forward to how you feel they perform in the field, specifically regarding audio delay.

Hi All,
I bought a pair about 6 months ago. Work very well, with no real terrible difference between them and my corded headset. I REALLY like not having to mess with the cord while I am digging. I dig a lot and since I use a pistol probe I have to turn my machines away from me. This makes it a lot easier.
I did see them on sale for $29 as stated above. Good deal, highly recommended.

AUVIO is a great cheap brand. I started out with the headphones, then swapped them for the wireless earbuds. They aren't on sell but they are a lot cleaner sounding (head phones sound like your in a hallway, earbuds sound like your at a rock concert) . I also noticed when the headphone get low on juice they begin to crackle. Also the wireless earbuds come with nicad batteries built in and the charger is usb and can fit into a car charger (head phone have to be put into a wall outlet ewww). I get about 10 hours more with the earbuds as well a way easier volume control that is glove friendly (headphone volume control is counter sunk into one of the ear muffs and is a pain in azz). That's just my 2 cents. Plus it knocks down the weirdo stereotypical metal detectorist public image lol.

Oh and if you use a Verizon phone (DROID) its charger will work with your earbuds for charging or vice versa.

Don, Looking forward to how you feel they perform in the field, specifically regarding audio delay.

After today I've used the wireless headset about four times (one of those was in my test garden). First, I cannot detect any audio delay; they seem to be just a fast as a wired set of headphones. They do fit very snug against the ear blocking out most distracting outside noise. I have not had to charge the set again since the first charge and it does not appear to be weakening. It is really great not to have to deal with a cord when I stoop to dig. Concerning the volume wheel mentioned by detecterx, it is true that it is recessed but not so much that I have had any problem adjusting it, even with a glove on. Rarely do I adjust the volume when hunting, I like to set it once and leave it alone so I cannot believe that should ever be a concern for me. It is true that one will need to move one side or the other ear cuff slightly to hear a pin-pointer but this is true with any good fitting headphone if they fit well enough to block out other outside noise which to me is the whole idea of having them.

Bottom line is that they are a keeper for me; I think I am going to enjoy them as apposed to having to fiddle with the wire.

HH,
Don

Thanks-CC

Problem with the wireless headphones

Last week I turned them on and to my disappointment, no sound. I touched the sending unit and then I did have sound but I kept loosing it. Bottom line is that the 3.5mm connector developed a loose connection. Since I was within my 30 day return time I took them back but unfortunately they didn't have a replacement nor could they locate any within a 100 mile radius so I replaced them with the wireless digital earbubs. I used them yesterday and they seem to work fine. At this point I cannot tell which I like best (it was to cold and windy to stay out very long). I liked the headphones real well; one thing about the buds is the receiver which dangled between the two buds either under the chin on the neck or on the back of the neck if worn backwards. Either way it is used, my personal opinion is that it may become a nuisance to deal with, only time will tell.

Steve, I am still using the earbuds and I like them pretty good. Its best to wear them with the rceiver below the chil though. I've used them several times since my earlier post above and they are working our real well. You can get these buds at Radio Shack. They are being discontinued so all Radio Shack stores will not have them; they can check other stores and have them mailed to a store near you. They may be displayed for around $79 but the clearance price is much less. Ask for AUVIO Wireles Digital Earbuds model # 33-284.

Good luck,
Don

I got tired of the earbud wires getting caught on everything so I went with wireless earbuds. Sony makes some nice ones and they come with a bluetooth adapter if you don't have one on your device. It's pretty easy to link up to your device. here's a tutorial

How to Make Wireless Earbuds

High all, TDK also make the wireless headphones, I got them for 79 bucks they were regularly 199. They come with a little cord if you want to mount the transmitter to the side of the machine( velcro) might do the trick. I suspect extra tension on the small jack plug may lead to a malfunction. I haven't been out with them yet but I have done a lot of air testing and there seems to be no delay as far as targeting goes. At 2 bills these would be too pricey for me and I wouldn't have bought them. Even 79 was steep, I wish I would have known about the Radio Shack deal. I would have bought three pair. The TDK headphones are WR700 Wireless HiFi-Headphones.

Have Fun,
Ron

Well, finally found a pair of those discontinued auvio 33-283's for $29.97 at the tenth Radio Shack that I had called. So far, used with about five hours hunting, very satisfied with them,no delays to report and really like that the charging kit was included. Will switch over to rechargeable AAA's eventually.
