does the Safari have disc notch and tones like the xterra.

from what i can gather the Safari has 50 notches of disc? does each of these notches have a relating tone like the xterra? if so that would mean it has 50 tones?

happy new year.

For what it's worth, there are no sound options on the Quattro/Safari. Just two audio modes -conductivity and ferrous. I usually hunt in relic or all metal search mode (both are ferrous audio,( helps me distinguish between clad and silver coins of the same denomination). I don't "scrim out" any numbers as I look to experience all readings & their related recoveries, if I chose to dig. The other two search modes on the Quattro/Safari are coin, coin/jewelry -and both are conductivity audio. Hope this helps.

Yes, I've experienced iron will sound lower than nickles which will sound lower than clad which will sound lower than brass and silver. Some heavily rusted iron can also sound high like brass and silver. If you get to try out a Safari, bring objects of various metals that you're likely to find, to a clean site or in your own test garden. Bury /scatter them and note the pronounced or subtle differences that you see (from TID,graph bar ID) and both conductivity, ferrous audio modes and the four search modes. This is discussed in detail in the book,Mastering The Quattro by Andy Sabisch. It should also be in the newer "The Minelab Quattro & Safari Handbook", but I haven't purchased it. Here's the link to http://sabischbooks.com

BP, most welcome. You'll be more that happy that you did. Looking forward to seeing pics of recoveries.
