Tribe of Indians Including The Chief

Let me start by saying RESEARCH PAYS OFF! I had heard that a church sat on the corner of a road in the 1860s-1900s as did everyone else but nobody could find it. Until, I learned that the road had been realligned since then, making the corner it was supposed to be on nearly a half mile down the road. As soon as I got there, out pops a 1902 indian head penny, right then I knew it was going to be a good weekend of hunting. As the day goes on I pull out a few buttons, a shotgun shell with the paper still attatched, an 1899 and 1884 indian, and a 1910 wheatie. After the first day I had found my oldest Indian by 3 years, doubled the number of Indians I had ever found, and found the oldest wheatie I had ever found by 3 years. I thought I had the place hunted out but I decided to grid the place going the opposite direction as I had on Saturday. I found out, the church was far from hunted out. I found 2 more Indians, another 1910 wheatie, and a flat button with the shank still attatched. The first Indian was a 1901, the second was standing perfectly on edge and would not get a reading going the way was going the day before. As I wiped it off I could see 187-. My heart was racing because I knew all the 1870s Indians were at least semi-key dates. As I used my finger nail ever so gently to chip off the corrosion I saw that 1878 and I was esctatic! It wasnt the famed 1877 but still my rarest coin, next to a 1924 peace dollar and a 1819 Large Cent. What a weekend of metal detecting!!

Great hunt there. How rare to get more than two IH in a hunt or even in two hunts! Research sure leads to reward.
What were your stats?

Sorry..not your coin totals, but I meant your hunt statistics.
In what mode, density, sensitivity and TID readings for some of the recoveries that you had?

This was a great day, can you remember what your ID numbers were on these - did they vary much?

The indians rang up anywhere from 32-34. I was in Coin Mode with 12-15 and 32-38 discrimination. High trash mode auto sensitivity, and 23 threshold.

Prodigy...BTW- You may want to include 39 in your settings as the vast majority of silver recoveries (in my case anyway) bounce between 38-39.

NICE JOB! One recommendation....if your at an old site like that as opposed to sa trashy park be sure to hunt in RELIC mode. You will not only get more coins but you will get relics as well. Dig anything thats deep. Dig every number unless its like a 5 or something. Digging everything will also make your life easier even though you will have to dig more. Easier as far as the machine goes. Us the numbers as guide but dig it all . All metal will bnring you all the iron stuff and you won't want to listen to that so use RELIC. I t will also increase your depth a little.
Go back to that site and take my advice and go slow. There is more there. I smell a silver there waiting for you. Let me know. Crazy Joe

In response to crazyjoe999 so what you are saying is that if I dig everyting it could get enough other trash out that could be masking a coin?
