What A Difference!

For a while I used the RPG headphones that came with my Safari. I notice that there little or no difference between the tones that the Safari made from various targets as far as my ears could distinguish. I've previously owned several Safaries before so I am familiar with it's tones. I was begining to think that it was deffected. I have a pair of JVCs with great sound that I like that have a broken headband. I removed the speakers from them and placed them in the RPGs. Man what a difference! The various tones are so much more distinguish especially the lows from the highs. Any new users ( if you don't already know) invest in a good quality pair of headphones especially if you hunt in all metal. They really help to sharpen you skills.

Interesting. I used some JVC headphones from my audio days (circa 1990) from day1 with my Safari. I guess sometimes, you just get lucky.
Glad you've found a good solution.

I started to throw them away at one time but decided to keep them because I liked the way they sound.

Took delivery of my Safari Friday afternoon just before winter storm Vexo hit. Since I can't swing a coil through 3 feet of snow, I decided to familiarize myself with the Safari as much as I could on the kitchen table. Besides air testing with coins, jewelry and junk, I decided to swap the Eagle headphones that came with it for my favorite Sennheisers. Yes there is a definite difference. The Sennheiser 280's are just better in every aspect. Up to 32db of outside sound attenuation. All user replaceable parts.
A good headset can let you hear things you won't otherwise. The 280's are $99 on Amazon. Worth every penny.
P.S. I wear hearing aides too.

In the end, we don't regret what we did, but regret most what we didn't do.
