Finally! TDI gets silver!

Been hitting a pounded park near my area, these two weeks before work been detecting here no more than an hour each hunt. Dug 9 wheat pennies these two weeks and finally today get the Barber dime.

Was a measured 10.5" inches deep, using Periscope probe to check targets before digging and measure depth. Blew me away when seeing a flash of silver, thought it was another wheat penny.

Using a 12" x 16" Miner John coil, very deep and pretty much eliminates EMI. Can hunt in areas the stock TdI coil can't, impressive depth today the TDI made me a believer never would have imanged getting a silver dime this deep from a park.

Using high conductive settings that work for my area.

GB at 11
Delay 10uS
Gain maximum
Faint threshold but not were its choppy., soft constant threshold.
High Conductive toggle setting

Thanks for looking,
Paul

Nice plug, did you use a post digger? ;) Good finds! How is the tdi in a park setting? I think I would be too anxious to try that here, iron everywhere.

Thanks,

Yes indeed, Plugs are getting deeper and deeper. With using the periscope probe, i can check the target before digging and a avoid cutting a plug when it's not a deep target.

If the park is old, the TDI will manage to find deep coins you'll be suprised to see what VLF is missing. Some iron will fool the tdi, but it's worth the extra digging when a deep coin surfaces.

Thanks,
Paul

Thank you El,

1908S barber dime, deepest park dime I've recovered in my career.

This tdi is amazing, ill show you how easy the unit operates next time we get out for a hunt.

Thanks el!

Aways nice to find the silver.....I too am a believer that the TDI and TDI PRO will open up lots of old spaces to new finds due to their depth. I have found deep silver also in places that were previously hunted to death with VLF machines due to the TDI smashing through to previously unobtainable depths.

I started digging oversize flaps so I could dig a big hole underneath to go after the deep TDI targets. I used to cut plugs but went to a local park that I had hunted quite a bit previously that now no longer allows detectors. When I asked the park host about it he said they decided to quit allowing digging as many people were detecting and there were just to many dead grass plugs all over their turf. A plug doesn't leave a connecting hinge of grass roots so the plugs die fast unless constantly watered until the plug can reconnect with the root matrix.

Thanks for sharing cutting flaps are better than a plug, a friend of mine recommend the same as we've notified plugs are neater but don't survive as well as a flap. Plus, Squirrels are digging up the plugs but leave flaps alone.

I'm still using Pi's at our old parks, still getting wheat pennies. Recently, Started using the GPX again and comparing it with the TDI both depth and coin and gold jewelry hunting comparison.

Both fare about equal across the board on depth at the local Parks, both are great out in school yards for low conductive digging. The area the gpx has an edge is relic hunting, otherwise TDI is faring great having a slight edge on deep park coins due to the high conductive audio. For gold jewelry hunting, both are pretty good.

Using the smaller elliptical coils on both, great coin and jewelry coils.

Continue to enjoy the TDI, great detector for certain conditions.

Thanks for sharing,
Paul

Thanks Doc,

Having a great time with the TDI, been using both the TDI and GPX. Both are mounted on a Mars shaft, swing pretty good.

Have a neat tip to share with TDI users, it's working great helping me determine deep coins from iron. Has greatly reduced some false digging, will share soon.

Thanks doc!

Always interested in a good tip......sounds like you are bringing this machine to heel...

Nice hit on that deep Barber, looking at your dug plug, you must be using a plugger of some sort for a digging tool. I would like to have a digger like that, would you mind posting a pic of it?

" If in doubt, dig it out"

I use various analog detectors, knobs and switches rule.

Hello Randy,

I use several types of diggers, depending on park very careful which digger I use.

Can get away with using a ground shark at some parks, and only use a hand digger at others.

In fear of getting chewed out with posting a picture of this particular digger, that has happened before on another forum I won't post pictures of my digger's.

I'm very careful with with my digging, but one I particular person blew a gasket when a portion of my digger was in the picture. Plug and some dirt was on a towel or cloth of some type, neatly dug plug but this particular detectorist from another forum got upset.

I no longer post on that particular forum, even asked the forum owner to remove me as a member. My reason for leaving for other reasons as well, too much drama on that forum.

Take care Randy, good to see you're still out there.

It may have been just a portion of the digger no plug in the picture, When someone on that forum got upset using this type of digger for park hunting.

I respect that individual's rant with a picture of a ground shark, Was surprised though especially him knowing the type of person I am with land owners and such. I'm not in this hobby for the taking, more of a giver especially with property owners.

Take care Randy,
Paul,
