My main machine is a Deus but I wanted to try the Whites QXT as a backup machine. I have heard mixed reviews on this machine, Does anyone have any opinions on it?

I have never used one but I have a friend that he loves the QXT. I still have the Eagle 11sl and use it a lot. If the QXT is like the other Whites detectors it has to be good. Good luck with your new detector.

Thanks, I have been researching it and I believe it is the last model that ran at 6.59 KHZ, So there are a lot of available coils for it. Can't wait to try it out.:detecting:

Not all 6.5 coils will work on it. Check before you buy. My Eagle 11sl takes 6.5 coils also.

I have a Bullseye 5.3 coil for it.

It is a great detector. I had one a few years back and sold it. I used different detectors and brands. However, I recently picked up a near new unit for $200 from another classified forum. Why? Its really a great detector! It is super fast in trash and allows you to pick out good targets. I run mine in the Coin program, leave auto tracking off, accept all 8 zones, set alert tones for zones 4, 6 and 7. Noise reduction off. Sensitivity 14-16. The sizing graph is another feature that makes this detector excel. Questionable targets give to 3 or more bars where coins and jewelry are consistently at 2-3 bars.

A word of caution: this detector takes time to learn its language. Once you do you will be amazed. Dimes at 7"+. Its easy to get frustrated and give up too soon. Don't give up.

Search for posts from Critterhunter (Thomas Hill) I know and have hunted with Tom for years. He believes that the QXT is one of the best Whites made and I tend to agree. You will definitely find a lot of deep coins and good stuff if you take the time to master it and the audio.

Those who say it is not a good unit have not learned it and gave up too soon IMHO.

One more thing: get the 950 coil or the 7.8. Both snipe targets as good as the 5.3 but you get more depth. The fast recovery allows you to hear everything under the coil in the sweep and zero in on the target.

It has the Quantum deep scan 950 with it happily:clap: and I just happen to have the Bullseye coil already that I was using on an Eagle 2 sl so I am all set.

It's one of the Cult type Detectors. People either love it or hate. But like said above Critter Hunter is Guy who has most info on it. Wish they could have combine the features Like the 2 Filter fast return and Modulated Tone audio with the XL-PRO analog. That would have been a Winner.
