Has anyone ver found any buried treasure of gold...my buddy and I are going out hunting tomorrow....we were kidding about knowing that there is millions of gold buried out there somewhere...we just dont know where. I even tried to google lost treasure fort wayne indiana. I got a hit for a lost treasure website.....We can hunt parks fields etc....Im just curious if there are any lost treasure maps out there anywhere and where would one even start to look for them....
Im assuming that finding something like bars of gold or a lost treasure would be just a total fluke...has anyone ever found anything close to this ?
Peace

I f some one finds it they would not say anything about it.
Government would like its share plus a million other parasites saying they burried it there.
Lost treasures and East/West Treasures have good clues of hidden caches.
You have to do the homework why and where it was hidden.

metal is funny, somewhere withing a few miles of where you are at, is some nice gold in the ground just waiting for somebody to come along and find it... it might not be bars or coins, but non the less, theres a lot of gold out there that has been dropped in the strangest places.....I hope you find it tomorrow!

Best of luck to you in your treasure quest. Treasure hunting is a wonderful hobby. It can be a funny thing, though. For instance, some of my best finds were made (stumbled upon really) while I was looking for something else. One time, I found a Civil War buckle while I was just coin shootin'. Then, another time, I found nine silver Spanish colonial coins while I was nugget shootin'. Neither were expected, but were indeed quite pleasant surprises.
I've been metal detecting/prospecting/treasure hunting for over twenty years. One thing that I have discovered is that an aspect of this hobby that is incredibly interesting and can actually be quite fun is doing reasearch. Research on different possible areas where treasure may be(such as you are inquiring). Reasearch on the best places to treasure hunt, such as, what areas do people congregate in large numbers and therefore perhaps have lost valuables such as coins, rings, etc. There are so many different types of research that can be and needs to be done in order to make good finds. Another thing that people do to research good possible hunting spots is by looking at old maps to see what used to be in an area, but is no longer there. Like, maybe an old church is on an old map, but is no longer there. Well, people used to socialize there on Sundays and quite possibly dropped old coins and such.
I can go on forever about the different types of research that can be done while treasure hunting. There are numerous books, very good books, written on this topic. "Ghost Town Treasure- Ruins, Relics and Riches" is a great book written by Charles Garret. He gives alot of great advice on treasure hunting. There's tons of good books out there, by several different authors.
Then again, back to what I mentioned at the beginning of my post, my best finds were made quite by accident, while searching for something else.
By the way, don't hesitate to ask for permission to search private property. The worst that can happen is they say no.
Again, good luck and most of all, HAVE FUN!
Happy Hunting!

The only thing that I hate more than digging pulltabs is missing a gold ring!

Sorry, youre out of luck...I just bought the last treasure map and it was surprisingly cheap for a map showing all those treasure caches. But the guy who sold it to me promised that it was the real thing Guess I'll be pretty rich come spring. Who knew that there were so many pirate treasures in NE Wisconsin?

For me just seeing my wife outside and having fun digging in the dirt is worth a bucket load of gold. After a decade in a wheelchair and fifteen years of having to avoid the temperature extremes of outdoors it's a jackpot even if we just find pennies. Our first hunt on the beach a few months ago was her first time on the beach in fifteen years and we live close!

You might just be surprised at what some of the biggest treasures in life are...

I found a suitcase with thousands of American silver certificate dollars but I hid them and couldn't find the spot later. I found them with the aid of a genuine Phillipines map and after investing a thousand or so.............................Oh, you've heard this story huh? Never mind!

Actually I have found more gold when I was just goofing off than I did on purpose. Several times I have given up on a site and found silver coins or gold rings just meandering back to my car.

No one that would want to keep such a find in this day and age is going to admit to it - not unless they want a legal hassle to deal with. All of a sudden there would be a bunch of people claiming ownership, and state governments getting involved.

You are exactly right. Even with a simple gold ring, I'm very quiet about where it came from. Too many people would try to claim it. And I can't imagine how nasty it would be getting the government involved. Anybody remember the case, not to long ago, when a guy tried to sell a VERY rare uncircuilated coin and the US mint claimed it was stolen from them? As I recall the mint won that case. Anybody remember that?
