I think that freezing and thawing bringing up coins has a lot to do with the type of soil and what the target is made of. I never did figure out any direct correlation, but I know that I've gone back over an area in the early spring and found new targets where I would swear that I had cleaned it out the year before. Did I just miss them the first time? I don't know. Maybe.
No detecting here, that's for sure... Temperature -5 Celsius. Wind ENE 100 km/h with gusts over 160 km/h. Sea temperature, new record low, +4.6 Celsius and dropping. Trieste, Italy. And still no snow... I hope my truck hasn't been destroyed by flying debris...

I am one of the fortunate ones who lives where I can hunt all year, (South Georgia), I usually hunt 2 to 4 Hrs everyday, just don't have the stamina for long hunts anymore.
