Looking for detectors go to Kelly Co. If you are just starting you may become overwhelmed with the options that are available. Another thing that you can do is to visit a local "metal detecting club" ask for help you may get much more than you expect at no cost. Local clubs can be found on the internet under Metal Detecting Clubs. As for specific detectors it may depend on where you are located and the type of "treasure " you are going to look for. You need to do some research. That is a phrase that you will hear over and over. Research, Research Research. Happy Hunting HH

Neb.
I've tested several bottom of the line destectors, and I found that the Tesoro Silver Umax was the best beginner detector, simple to use and sensitive.
You can find them online for about $255.00

I just saw at a big metal detector distributor that the Garrett AT Pro is the #1 best seller and the Ace 350 is the #2 best seller. I also saw at another place there is a six week backorder on both the AT Pro and the AT Gold. That gives you an idea of how good they are and you will probably have to shop around to even find one.

Love the AT Pro so much I bought 2, one for a backup when my first was in the shop. I've been at it for about a year after not doing it for 50 years. Have learned to love the AT Pro and the Pro-pointer. After a year you'll know how to pin point, and when to dig and when not to dig. Good luck and be sure to look up Metal Detector ethics.

Good luck with whatever detector you start out with. If I had to do it over again, I would start out with the Ace-250 and work up. I started out with the GTI-2500 and it was a steep learning curve for someone who had never metal detected before. The propointer saves so much time and hassle, it's worth every cent. If you find something real good with a Garrett detector and enter it in the Garrett find of the month, you can win a free propointer. Happy hunting.
