I use the SH Mark II and is my only PI machine. I can afford to get the Dual Field also.
My question is, " Is the technology of the Dual Field superior to the older SH?" I never hear much about the SH on sites, but I have found nice rings with the SH.

I believe that you only need one underwater PI unit unless you feel the need for a backup.

I don't think your finds will increase by using the DF over the SH.
I'm sure the pulse delays on both units are within 5µs or so.

Why not have a VLF detector as a second water machine?

I now have 2 underwater detectors, one PI and one VLF.....they complement each other very well and cater for most of my underwater detecting environments.
