If so.. what were your positive and negative's if any while using this coil .... thanks HH joe

Who makes the dd coil Joe for a 1200 Fisher? I use the hothead coil you get more depth and would cover more ground. Target separation and masking could be a problem in junky areas.

I'm pretty certain that there isn't a double DD coil for the 1200's, the 1270 may be adaptive to a DD (I don't think so??) but the older 1200's do not have the circuitry to run a DD coil.

My good friend Hooch sent me this coil last week.....the Excelerator EQ2 pro DD....it is a 12 inch coil very lite weight I was thinking Bill Ladd talked about this coil severall years ago on a forum...figured some of you guy's might have used this coil in the past/present and could share some thoughts on it...HH joe

In the past year or so me and my brother has been around the market with the 1200 series coils and the only thought to be DD coil that turned up, that turned out NOT a DD coil is the Fisher 5"X10" elliptical. This coil is most times listed as,
Rare!
DD!
although it is a little hard to fine but its not a double DD design.

My brother has had a,
1265
1266,
1270, and a boat load of coils for them.
I have a 1266 with the,
3-3/4",
5"
8"
10-1/2" (I traded my 5"X10" elliptical for this one)

Now at this point I'm going to say that anything is possible but for a detector to properly use a DD coil it needs to have the electronics built into the detector. In other words when a detector manufacture makes a detector that is capable of using a DD coil then they would also manufacture a DD coil for it, either as the stock coil or as an optional coil. Fisher never made a DD coil for their 1200's. now the 1270 may be new enough that its circuits may handle a DD coil, but I don't think so??

Have you tried the coil yet?

Hey Mark don't think you can get these anymore I am thinking these were made 10+ years ago ??? hoping someone else has more info on this coil..Hh joe

I had that same coil, bought from Bill Ladd. I am pretty certain it is not a double D design. Deep coil though.

Okay, one thing a DD coil does is when you sweep a coin within a couple inches of the coil the detector will sound off a triple beep,
once at the leading edge,
once in the middle,
and again at the ending edge,
Beep.....Beep...........Beep

Hey, LeggoHead,
I have a Prototype ID Edge and also a CS-5 coil that belonged to Bill, Ladd

Hey Mark that is what this coil does...beep...beep...beep...within 3 inches of the coil outside to center to outside...joe

When I first got my 1266 (Freebie) and I was air testing it I discovered that real close to the center of the coil there was like a dip in the detection field in that when I passed a coin close to the front of the coil it would multiple beep. (like it was going in and out of the detection field)
Now, I'm still not saying FOR SURE that that coil isn't a DD and it would be great to find some printed specs somewhere for it to confirm it.

But the multiple beeps on a DD coil is one at the very outside edges (left and right) and then dead until the center bar, then from front to rear (toe to heel) it single beeps.
Also, when you pinpoint a target and as you detune the heel to toe will sound off in a much longer distance than the side to side travel of the coil (narrow side to side, long front to rear).

Whatever the coil is I'm sure its deep, lite for it size and in the right places it would work very well.

I tried to create an example of the dip in the detection field of the factory 8" coil. Now, the picture is just to illustrate how the response seem to be when I passed a target close to the coil. Which would drop out in the center and create extra beeps moving in out of the dip (dead zone) See first picture.

The second picture is more of how a target sounds as it passes close to a DD coil with multiple beeps.

It is my understanding that the DD design has been around for a while, but the older detectors could not handle the DD design so the coil design was put on the shelf until the electronics in the detectors could handle the DD design.

So I am in doubt that there are any DD coils for any of the 1200 series detectors.

We had one guy post that his 5x10 was DD coil. When questioned how he knew it was a DD coil he stated that he tested it and it tested to be a DD. Then the next question came in, how and what kind of test did he do. Well no answer.

Some of the old time dealers should be able to firm up on the DD coils for 1200 series detectors.

Hey Guys As a owner of a 66 since they first came out.. I knew I had never seen a DD coil advertised for the 66 (and I have some early catalogs showing all accessory.coils for the 66) But I thought this might be a UK design or something..... I have tried contacting the company (no response) I am not even sure this company made a coil for the 66.... so my thoughts are that someone has changed the end on this coil so it will work on the 66..I have no idea what this coil origionally went to...But I only know it does not act like a normal/stock coil on my 66..... especially when it disc/tones down the middle of the coil.... If anyone finds out any more info on this setup would appreciate hearing about it..... thanks HH joe
