Los banos vs First Texas Fisher 1270

Hello everyone, I just snagged a fisher 1270. Can't wait for the snow to melt to try this beast. Is there really any difference from the quality or performance of a Los banos fisher vs a first Texas fisher. Thanks for your replies

I have owned 2 of the 1270's one before FT and one that was made right at the change over but was made by FT. I couldn't tell any difference in the machines performance like what I was hearing about with the CZ3D machines.

Now all the Los banos and early FT machines had a factory defect with the mounting of the control head to the top of the hand grip and the control heads were breaking off. My first 1270 was the early FT machine and the control head was loose when I got it, but it was a used machine. I sent it in for repair and they installed a kit of some kind to add support to the mounting. So the machine you are getting if it hasn't been sent in for the kit install it has the problem. If when you get it and the control head feels loose you may want to send it in for a check up and the mounting kit. If it feels pretty tight I wouldn't worry about it, and just try not to do a lot of pushing and pulling on the head and I don't think the problem will ever show up.

The only other minor problem with both the FT and Los banos 1270's is the battery doors, they do not latch real tight and you could lose them.

I never heard of any major differences form machines made at either location.

Thanks for the info Ron. I wasn't sure if there were any major differences. Now I just need the snow to melt so I can dig some relics and old coins.

Not a lot of people know this but the 1270 will see through snow, find you some sled run areas and get that baby earning her keep.

Just a word of caution, running with silencer on will reduce the detection depth a lot.

I haven't been able to use mine very much so it has been spending most of its time in the closet. I am pretty much a coin/jewelry hunter and my F75 seems to do a better job in that area.

Good luck and have fun,
