I recently picked up a used 11" coil also with the skinny grey cord. I'm wondering if these box coils, as you call them, would work on my 1225X. Would you know? Regards. Duck!:confused:

I'm thinking that Fisher made a 1220 and a 1260 and I'm pretty sure that the coils for them were dedicated to just those two models and will not interchange with any other models.

I found that when the 1270 gets chattery at high sensitivity settings turning the volume control down and readjusting your headphones solves the problem. The volume control on the 1270 acts like a gain control according to one of the techs I talked to at the old Fisher.
