What camera(s) does everyone use to take their photos with?

I thought it would be nice to have a thread where everyone can tell each other what camera, or cameras, they have used and use. Whether they are digital, film, P&S, or a DSLR, please let everyone know what machines you have gotten your hands on.

I'll start off by saying I presently use a the Kodak Playsport Zx5 to take my pics and videos. It is not much, but I do like its ruggedness when I am out exploring CA. I have also used a few other P&S cheapos such as an Argus and Vivitar (nightmares:shocked:) as well as a JVC camcorder that I occasionally used for photos. The best camera I ever used was a Pentax K1000 that we used to shoot B&W in highschool Photography class. It was a great camera that took some amazing photos and made you really think about what you were shooting since we were only given 12 shots at a time.

Roscue2, that is an excellent suggestion. I am presently...............

using a Sony A300 DLSR, a Sony A200 DLSR, and a Canon SX10is point & shoot bridge camera. Most the time, I use the Sony A300 DLSR with Minolta AF lenses that I purchased on eBay or Craig's list. About five years or so ago, Sony bought Minolta and then came out with their own line of DSLR cameras.

I have two Sony kit lenses, and several Minolta lenses. My favorite lens is a Minolta 28-85mm which I used to take all the recent pictures posted on the Forum. I am doing photography on a budget and have found that the "older" Minolta lenses are outstanding lenses...great detail & color. The Minolta 28-85mm lens was made around 1985, all metal construction with good glass.

From time to time, on some forums there will be a debate on which is better, a DSLR or point & shoot. I have always avoided those debates because I really don't think one is better than the other for my type of casual photography. The picture below was taken with my Canon SX10is a few weeks ago. To top it off, this picture was taken using the Auto Mode, and there was little photo editing done on the picture. I was satisfied with the results.

Photography is a "fun" hobby and I must confess that I am having fun. Kelley (Texas) :)

My father has an old Minolta film camera from back in the mid-80s. The lens he had on it had both auto and manual focus, but the auto focus broke. I tried using a roll of B&W in it earlier this yr, but for some reason when I developed the roll it came out clear with no photos. I haven't used it since then and am still trying to figure out what went wrong because I would like to get it working again in manual mode. Oddly enough, when I was looking it over I saw the $540 original price tag.

I am also doing photography on a budget, but do plan on eventually buying a nice dslr. You have some nice cameras there Kelley, and nice photo of the bird; the weathered fence adds to the photo.

It is exciting searching for a certain used lens at a good price. As a bonus, most of the older Minolta lenses that will work on the Sony camera are top rated lenses, often better than the kit lenses. Like I said earlier, I enjoy photography on a budget. Kelley (Texas) :)

More equipment than talent.
I'll see if I can find some worth posting and then see If I can figure out how to post. Are there instructions anywhere?

I am not very computer smart, but if you will have patience with me, I will try to help you. I do know that you click on "Browse" and then locate the picture you want to post, double click on the picture, then click on "Upload." You will then get a Link for the picture and you place the link where you want the picture to appear in your message. You can show up to six pictures per posted message. Kelley (Texas) :)

Thanks, I'll give it a try soon. I suspect a small file size is in order.

Yes, the photos have to be 640X? I believe. I use Paint to resize them for the forum. I forget who told me that, but it has been very helpful.

Great topic, Roscue2 !!!!

I already told my TOPCON 35mm tearfully sad story in my Perryvllle topic on this forum..

I am DIGITAL illiterate!

I sometimes use the 8 MP Konica Minolta A2000. Pretty good video, and sound, but not so good taking still action shots, even with a faster rated card. http://www.mediacollege.com/equipment/konica-minolta/dimage/a2.html

For my nieces wedding shots, I bought a 6.2 MP SAMSUNG HD camcorder, Model SC HMMX20C off of feeBay as a HD camcorder to use for cut away shots for the wedding, I was going to borrow a JVC High Def professional Camcorder Beleive it was a 250, for the main shots. The Samsung arrived the night before the wedding, so all I did was learn how to turn it on, etc. FUNNY THING... it stopped working five minutes after I turned it on at the wedding on Saturday. I didn't know that, until I went to look at the footage that I thought that I had shot. There was only five minutes. THEN, I discovered why it had stopped recording. The chip was already full. The guy who sold it to me, forgot to erase the chip. It was COMPLETELY full of incredibly intimate footage of him and his wife, being loving man and wife.:yikes:

I would have thought that he would have chosen to erase such footage, but, I just guess that is the "California Way." "Hey, see what we did!" I mean the enire chip was full.

The camera that I used most, because it is reliable and folds up nicely for easy transport, is the BEST BUY Store brand camera, the INSIGNIA NS-DV-720p

I found it new at BEST BUY on about a 75% closeout price for about $50. I liked it after the wedding, that I bought another one on feeBay

Of the three cameras, that I used for my neices wedding the INSIGNIA did not fail me. It captured good, usable audio, that I used with the footage of the Professional JVC 250 that I used. It's audio switch had been turned in the wrong position, and I didn't realize it. NO audio, but great video on tghe JVC 250.

The INSIGNIA is easy to use. No real adjustments. A tough little camcorder/still camera for just "plinking" photography. It is HD 720p

Again, Great question!

When detecting on land I use a Nikon L18 digital pocket camera, for water hunts a Go-Pro digital, and when I'm out just to shoot I use a Pentax k20d digital with either the stock 18-55 lens, or a Pentax 100mm f2 macro lens, but my go to lens on the camera 95% of the time is a sigma 50-500mm zoom. The large lens of course requires support so I usually mount a Manfrotto monopod or tripod with ball head. Which one depends on how much walking I plan on doing.

It's all fun, no matter which camera is in hand.
