DMC2b in Med. mineralized ground ?

I was a DMC2 user for several years. Kinda interested in getting a Dmc2b. I live in SW MO. Our ground is probably considered medium to high mineralization. Will the DMC2b be able to handle this type of ground for relics at extreme depths. Or would I be better off looking at one of the newer detectors out there such as the F75 or MXT. I really liked the way my old DMC2 operated. Anyone out there useing their machine in mineralized ground? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Mark,

Maybe you can borrow a DMC2b from a dealer and see if it works well for your sites.

Keep in mind though that Nautilus is a good ground machine. There's a reason why you don't see many being used in hot ground sites.

Nautilus has tried a few ways to get around hot ground: Low q coils and the DMCIV. While they improve performance I don't think they make the Nautilus a good "bad ground" detector.

Go to mytreasurespot.com and the relic forum and see what they use for hot ground.

You might be able to get away with using a DMC2b if your ground is medium hot, but I suspect there are better machines for your area.

Good luck.

Also Mark, see the post below about the low "Q" coils. That explains the use of Nautilus in bad ground.

Thanks

Hey Mark, I was born and raised below Richmond VA and the only machine they made was Nautilus for me. I relic hunted first with a LF in the early 80"s and then moved on to a DMC II and still found tons of stuff,10 years ago I relocated to Winchester VA where the ground is very, very mineralized in spots I tried to hunt with that DMC II here in about 30 minutes was enough for me and went to Minelab XS- II My dad still lives down home and he just gave me a DMC IIB because he is getting older (hip) and I have not turned that machine on up here. Nobody hunts with a Nautie up here Minelabs,Whites mainly because of the ground But I still love Nautilus and will hunt with the IIB when I go home to visit my Dad.
