hiya guys,,,,dunno if this makes sense,,,, but did some in-air testing and discovered a strange thing,,i tried a small English 1 cent piece clad coin,,at min trans power,,6 with the 8 inch coil and picked it up at around 8 inches,,,now did the same with a 2 cent piece which is almost double the weight and twice the diameter, which is also a non-magnetic coin,,so no iron in its alloy,, and it could only pick up at around 2 inches max,???put the trans up to 10 and no problem,,and everything as it should be at a greater distance,,,whats all that about ,,,and am i in trouble with something going wrong ???? guess i will ask nautilus,,,or do you know something i should know about this anomaly,??? in fact why dont you try this yourselves and let me know ,, rgds ,,:ukflag:

Sorry not to have come straight back on this but....SUN, after weeks of rain.

I get a new one pence at 11", two pence at 12.5" (minimum transmit power, auto ON)

" 12.5" " 13.5" (transmit at 10, auto ON)

This is with 8" coil, discrim. at 20, GB at 70 and sensitivities at 10 (disc.) and 5.5 (all metal)

Not to useful to you as both my DMC's are IIB's though I could do again when I remember what you models sensitivity levels are fixed at (9 and 3 I think but I saw a post claiming this is not correct ??, something you could check with Nautilus if you do contact them).

Might not be anything to worry about if the results are better higher up the settings as your never going to be using minimum.

yeah,,thats the truth,,,,but how strange getting 1/4 the distance on a coin twice the size,,,,but again at sense on 10,,its back to normal,,,as much as the bigger coin is detectted further away,,still need 20 sense. upover though,,tried this again and the figures are,,,copper coins both max 3" and makes a boingg sound as though its ferrite ?? but sees the clad coins,,1 cent @ 6"and 2 cent @ 8 1/2",,,,,,at 20 sense,,both copper coins @ 12",,and the clads @ 13 1/2",,,need to keep the machine at 20 or higher as it dont like copper alloys at less,,,thing is ,,the test was in air ,,not the best way to test anything really,,,,but there it is,,,p.s. tested with the 8 " coil,,,(now wouldnt ALL detectors like to go that deep, and with an 8" coil) ??? love this thing,,,rgds :ukflag:
