thinking modern day but just asking

Found this in an old overgrown corn field which was farmed up until late 80's early 90's. I dug it from around 8-9 inches of soil. Im thinking its a newer one but just asking to make sure.

IMO the straight knurled area set in the rings makes this a moder bullet.

thats exactly what i was thinking when I cleaned it up......Not sure how long it takes for the whitish gray look takes but still a neat find and my first bullet.

It takes a long time for them to get the white lead sulfide patina. I have found bullets that have a thick patina like that one and they are at least as old as square nails.

I would guess a projectile from a modern muzzle loader rifle.
