When I first found this item I thought maybe it was one of the old beer and soda openers that they use to hang on the wall to open bottles. But the more I look at it I'm sure it was probably part of some farm implement. Any ideas ?

Looks like it is off of a sickle bar mower. Used by farmers to mow hay.

A side view photo would help. The bottle cap idea does appear to be possible but seeing it from the side could help.
