Mine will hit them anywhere between 21 to 23. You might have to dig some junk to narrow it down with your XLT. No two are exactly alike.

Usually they read around 19-21 for me. If you get those numbers with an occasional higher number in the 70's range it could be a war nickle.

I get 18-21 with the numbers being pretty solid and not bouncing around. That is how I usually know it may be a nickle when it gives a good sound, solid bar and vdi is consistant. If it bounces around it is a tab, trash or a buffalo!

#18 to # 22 for modern jefferson nickles, now older nickles such a Buffalo, V and Shield come in lower along with really deep Jefferson's....Have gotten shield nickles as low as #15...

This is just ballpark as your buddies XLT may run 1 plus or minus...After a while you will know when you have a nickle as just takes time with your unit..

For me...19-21. 22 has always been a square tab here....Jack

19 - 23.

Anything above 23 is most likely a pull tab. You will also get pull tabs in the 21-13 range but not as may as 24 or above.
