Heck, they won't even come here now to read my meter. I have a STATUE of a Rottweiler on my front porch and the 'lectric Co. called me and told me that my dog that lives on the front porch tried to attack the meter reader I hung up on themN/TPosted by: Jim West Pa Date: February 17, 2012 10:23AM | Registered: 7 years ago Posts: 9,180 |

1 watt ? I aint no radio expert but i don't think 1 watt could transmit any further than across the street..maybe. What's yer average cb radio ? 3- 7 watts ? N/TPosted by: Jim West Pa Date: February 18, 2012 09:16AM | Registered: 7 years ago Posts: 9,180 |
1 watt, given a good antenna and the right atmospheric conditions will reach a satellite in space. 1 watt may not seem like much but it's coverage is further than you may believe. And CB's are limited to 4 watts AM and 12 watts PEP Posted by: Butch in Colorado Date: February 18, 2012 12:49PM | Registered: 8 years ago Posts: 3,764 |
Thanx Butch. I used to know that cb stuff but it's been like 25 years since i used one. What would the power co's use for an antenna ? Can it be the power lines themselves ? N/TPosted by: Jim West Pa Date: February 18, 2012 04:42PM | Registered: 7 years ago Posts: 9,180 |
Nope, in this instance the antenna is imbeded into the meter. The freq range is probably 2.5 or 5 Ghz so the antenna is not all that big.N/T Posted by: Butch in Colorado Date: February 18, 2012 11:33PM | Registered: 8 years ago Posts: 3,764 |
