What coil would be the best for hunting silver coins in modern yards and curb strips?

It of course depends a lot on the soil conditions where you are, the level of trash, and how deep you want to go.
Under most circumstances the LF (3kHz) coils are what you want to hunt high conductors like silver and copper. That gives you the choice of a 6" DD, a 9" CC, or a 15" DD, all of which are also waterproof.

Excellent advice, but I think they list that 3kHz 6" 'digger' as only being "water resistant"...

Only the first 342 were water resistant. They are now waterproof (meaning that they can withstand 1 meter submersion).
