You can select either mode that you want to use. For open areas with little trash and widely dispersed targets, you can go the Lazyman's Lobster route with the original pinpoint mode. For trash hunting use the "sizing" mode to isolate targets and size/shape them. If in sizing mode, when you push the button to pinpoint, two little quick blips/bleeps are heard to notify you that you are in "sizing" mode. For many this will dramatically cut down on the time of locating and recovering targets.
