Hi all I have a F75 and Explorer XS but sometimes I only have time for a quick hunt in the local park for clad.
What would be a good Analog detector to get to have some fun old school and what should I expect to pay for it?

my favoritrs are Fisher CZ5 with the 5 "accessory coil.but the Whites IDX Pro is goodone, or a Whites xl pro.........they all fill the bill ........All of these are excellent target ID instruments..

The Fisher cz5 is my favorite detector along with the cz70 pro, but I prefer the analog over digital because of the more precise setting capabilities. I will use this cz5 until it dies and then go looking for another to take its place.

and dont forget the Teknetics Mark 1. it has the best tones of any machine ever made and the target id is spot on. it also has great depth and is able to be modded and get even a little more depth. you can go very slow with the Mark 1 in very trashy areas and let the tones pick out the good targets for you. the mark 1 doesnt do very well in highly mineralized ground as its a 1-2 filter machine but in good soil its hard to beat.

THEY OFTEN CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PENNY AND A HIGHER DENOMINATION COIN
ESPECIALLY CANADIAN COINS WHICH USUALLY GO HIGHER ON THE SCALE AS THEIR PLATING LASTS MUCH LONGER THAN USA COINS

Don't leave out the Compass Scanner series. I have a Goldscanner Pro that is deadly on coins, especially in heavy trash, better than my DFX or MXT.

The Goldscanner Pro has the most accurate ID meter I've seen. It doesn't vary with depth, but just reaches a point where it stops working altogether even though the tones still work. Basically, the meter is either accurate or shuts itself off. A lot of digital machines seem to vary the ID with depth. If the meter doesn't register at all, but you still get a good tone with foil disc'ed out, you know you have a good deep signal.

the whites 6000/Di PRO SL is a great analog machine ....but heavy and bulky if you try to hip mount it you will do yourfelf bodyly harm every time you dig!!!
