Well today I hooked up the coils in the photo onto the di series 3

and did some air tests at home to see if they would work, and both

of them work very well, supries, suprise, I have a Blue Max 600

on the way from Flea B- - and I don't see any reason for that to

not work on the series 3 also, no chance of getting out tectin

because the weather has been awful, and yes, I sometimes put my

foot in my mouth, but I put it down to my age.

Glad I'm not the only one.

You probably already know this- but my favorite aspect of this MD was when I had tight time constraints and had to speed detect.

I remember so many times I would have 20-50 minutes and still come up with silver 3-6" down-and dig no trash. I know that I'll never be able to work this new MD that quick. Loved that toggle switch (seal that with some all weather grease). With that pro coil above you should be able to pinpoint exactly.

Now I've always preferred taking my time...........

Like you GTzer I love the toggle switch, and the Analogue Meter is always spot on,

if the meter says Tab, then it always is a Tab. I like lots of other guys on the Forum

often wonder why the Analogue Metered models were discontinued, I love em.

I've been retired for a few years now, so I have all the time in the world and I always

detect at a snails pace, Magic.

You gotta love this Hobby

This has been a very interesting read as I too recently was given a COINMASTER 6000/Di SERIES 3 that is in like new condition. Only problem right now is the original batt pack is weak, doesnt charge up all the way and doesnt keep the charge very long. It came in a nice plastic carrying case with a folded black strap inside, though I dont know yet how it attached?? Was going to sell this (and still might) but everything I'm reading tells me I should hang on to it. My thought was to sell it to get a Garrett ACE 350, but I need to use it a bit I guess to see if a new unit is really needed.

Hi Dirt Slinger, I don't have the rechargeable pack, just the holder for the C type batteries ( see pic )

I believe the holders and the rechargeable pack are still available from Whites, your batteries need to

be above the 60 mark on the Batt Check Meter in order for your machine to run correctly.

I would hang on to it, get the batteries sorted, and enjoy it, by the way, the Analogue meters (Whites )

are more accurate than the Digi ones J M H O.

Thanks leslie. Well heres what I did, took what is the fully charged batt (for this anyway) and did a target test with some coins and some pull tabs just to see if the meter is accurate. What I found was that for each target the needle was about a 1/4" off to the left of what it should be. I adjusted the needle to read correctly on the quarter, then scattered the other stuff around a bit and checked those as well and all read right on its corresponding spot on the meter face, so it was off to actually try to find something here in my yard. I found several tabs, but at least the unit was telling me they were tabs, so that is a plus. Gonna spend some time diggin up every hit to gain some confidence in it, then work on learning the many settings to weed out junk. I can tell right now this is gonna be fun. Will gladly listen to any tips on this outfit. It just occured to me, I wonder if the needle was off cuz of the weak batt??
Thanks again,
Ken.

Yes Ken, always make sure your batteries are in good order, also run

the VDI at Max, I use mine mostly in GEB / DISC but if you are a dig

it all guy then GEB / MAX is the mode to use for the deep stuff.

Did you download the Manual, or did one come with the machine?

Just remember after making any ajustments always pull then release

the trigger switch. Keep Having Fun.

Yup, downloaded the manual and for now I'm diggin everything just to get cozy with what its telling me. Something odd yesterday, just off my driveway a few feet I got a strong hit that was saying GOLD at about 2", so I dug and dug and the signal was then moving around. It would stay strong, but it was now in 2 or 3 places, so I just really looked close at the dirt as I was breaking it up in my hands but would never find anything, so I'd take hands full of dirt and wave it in front of the disc till I got a sig, but after probably 20 min of doing that, all I ever found was a piece of what looked like very thin gold colored tin foil about a 1/4" square. I have no idea what it was, or where it went, LOL. Thanks for the tips.
