robo,

...The 6000 Pro XL likes the whole conductivity spectrum, it has a discriminate circuit that is fully adjustable to pick up all the iron you could want......Or to just disc. it out, once iron is disc'ed out, no worries mate. It is really hot on nickels and gold rings & silver. The best accessory coil for it is the 6½" BullsEye or 5.3 Black Max, this coil will let you run a higher signal balance setting and lets you sweep the coil a little slower (it is a 4 filter fast sweep design). I've owned the CZ5 and no longer have it, but will never give up the 6000 Pro XL, it's just that good... once you learn to set it up with the smaller coil.

" If in doubt, dig it out"

I use various analog detectors, knobs and switches rule.

Robo,

I've used my XL Pro for alot of years and felt comfortable in what it was saying to me especially nickels. When you swing the detector over a nickel, the needle locks on the letter "N" of the word nickel and doesn't budge. Now if the needle locks on any other part of the word nickel, such as "E or "L", most likely a pull tab. Watch for if the needle ever so slightly twitches to the left. Most likely a pull tab. I would dig it up to just verify. For me, 10 times out of 10 if the needle twitches, most likely trash.

Sorry, don't know anything about the Fisher CZ-3D to compare to the XL Pro.

Good Luck,

TC-NM

Robo,

Almost forgot that I set my disc. just right of pre-set so I still get nickels, rings and even pull-tabs.

Hope this helps,
