cory!..the 6000d was a wonderful detector!..it was a fast sweeper in that you had to sweep the coil quickly to properly discriminate with it!..it was an early (v.l.f) design that ushered in a series of detectors that culminated with the introduction of the best coins sniper ever built in my opinion, the legendary xl-pro!.the 6000d was the first, followed quickly by the 6000 series 2,and then by the 6000 series 3,and then by the 6000 di pro!..all of these detectors used similar circuit designs upgraded over the years, and finally ending with the xl-pro!

Order a hip mount kit from Whites.............Just tell them you have the wide body and it's work great, You also need the kit for the extension rod.
I used one and found many many pieces of Silver with it. I would say about 6" was max in my area, but who knows that was here, you are there....
Good luck with your return to the hobby.........

I had the 6000 Di Pro for years and have put more hours into it than all my other machines combined.
I don't how much difference there is between the 6000/D and 6000 Di Pro, but if they are close I think you will really enjoy it. I let mine go recently and don't really know why now - kick myself again and again.
Learn the audio well and watch for certain needle flicker and work moderate to fast in disc or moderate in AM.
8 inch and 4 inch coils. A fine analog meter that is accurate and worked consistently well.
One of the finest Whites I had ever used and it served me very well for many years.
I have a half dozen new tech machines but get the urge for the XL Pro or something similar.

very similar in peformance to the xl-pro!..the pro is better balanced and lighter over all!..also the pro uses updated surface mount components on the circuit board
thus making the detector quieter, and smoother.,,translats to better overall performance!..if you can find an xl-pro,GRAB it!..you will love it!

Monte has posted some wonderful material on the 6000 series here in the past. Try the "Search" at the top of the page and type in "Monte white's 6000" or similar. As I recall, if it was a "Coinmaster" it probably had the old white 8" coil as stock, and the "Coinmaster" designation was dropped when they went to the Blue Max 9.5 inch coil, among other things. I have my father's old 6000D but the battery leads have broken off.
I need a pic to help me re-solder them back. Any help appreciated

I still have my 6000 series 2 that I bought new in 1982 and have put countless hours on it and it has never skipped a beat. I can't begin to tell you how much stuff it's found over the years. I have had many other detectors since but have always kept this one just because I like it. I love the full, rich audio these machines were noted for. I have several other newer machines but I still like to take the "old girl" out for a walk from time to time. White's still has parts for them and there are a lot of coils and accessories out there at really reasonable prices. A little heavier than todays offerings but not excessively so. The 6000 line culminating in the XL Pro are truly outstanding machines, even today. A real class act in my opinion. Keep it and enjoy it!!

I had one> You can hunt in all metal (GEB NORMAL or GEB MAX) and get asignal, press the push button it goes into motion discriminate while pushed in. If your mode is in GEB dixcriminate, it goes into GEB normal while pushed in. You can also use the TR disc for 'reverse discrimination'.
