12x15 SEF vs 15" DD for T2

Has anyone out there tried both of these coils? Pros and Cons? I have the 15" DD and am not fond of it for the weight. I did not see an increase in depth on coins or smaller size objects but did see an increase on larger items like belt plates and such. The problem is the weight. On my digital scales, the coil weighs 2 lbs without the coil cover...detector with this coil on it is extremely unbalanced and puts it just over 5 lbs on my scale.

I have a 12x15 DD SEF for another detector and I don't know if it weighs the same as the T2 SEF but I weighed the one I have and it is coming in at just at 1.4 lbs. So its a little over a half pound lighter than the factory 15" DD. I put this SEF on my lower rod of the T2 and its amazing what a half pound difference makes!! If the 12x15 SEF T2 coil weighs the same as the one I have for the GPX and can equal or surpass the 15" DD I will have to get one. I see reviews for the other manufacturers on the big SEF but not for the T2s or F75s.

I never got any feedback on the SEF so I bit the bullet and bought one. Just got it yesterday and I can tell you this:

If you have the white T2 15" DD...and you don't like the weight...sell it and buy the 12x25 SEF. It is a touch lighter than the other SEF coil I mentioned for the GPX/TDI....which means its over half pound lighter than the 15" white T2 coil and what I'm seeing in the ground is showing it equaling the depth of the 15" white one on large items...and actually doing better than it on coin sized objects. There really wasn't any gain from the stock coil on coin size and smaller...the 12x15 actually nudges past the stock coil and 15" on coin size things and really takes off on bigger things...say if you were a relic hunter you would see a major increase in depth on belt plates and shells vs the stock coil. This is a very good thing and for the price, ain't bad.

I did contact the NEL coil folks and they said they will be rolling out coils for the T2 in February so I look forward to see what they bring to the table.

I have ordered the 15x12 and it should be here next week it will be mainly used for pasture or sites without much rubbish but the report from over here in the UK are good but you will break your back digging deep holes but the finds should be worth it,I have just bought the smaller 12x10 SEF this morning my logic in doing so is that i will use it for everyday use so will gain a little extra depth but not loose out on small coins and its not much heavier than the stock coil.

i tried a big sef on my tesoro before i bought one and wasnt impressed ,only the 11x12 was ok ,when i tried the larger it was actually worse than the 8inch polo .if this is true for the T2 models i dont know

i am wondering about the 15inch for my T2 ,but the weight problem !

I have bought both the 10x12 and the 15x12,the 1st SEF Coil arrived this morning and i have to say i am well pleased with it,not been out on a hunt with it yet but i think i am going to shoot this coil from the hip instead of the stock coil and use the 15x12 for pasture and on fields that are clear of junk. The only trouble that i have come across is the lugs on the SEF coil are wider than the stock coil which is good and bad news they will be stronger but i cannot use the stock nut and bolt on it as its wider so have had to use another spare one that i had off another machine.

Not sure if the nut and bolt problem is just unique to the T2 or across the complete SEF Coil range ???
